Uganda Airlines is yet to welcome their brand-new Airbus A330s, we can confirm.

This follows a post on Airbus official Facebook page of a now fully assembled and painted aircraft pictured rolling out of the Paint Shop at the assembly plant in Toulouse, France captioned;

“Behold, ugandaairlines brand new #A330neo rolling out of our paintshop. A proud salute to the Uganda’s national flag”

According to sources, the two Airbus A330s were ordered by the national carrier which relaunched late last year, having been defunct for 2 decades and expected to be here before the year ends despite the Covid19 disruptions which forced the European plane making company to significantly reduce its production rates.

Once delivered, Uganda Airliner will join Kuwait and another yet to be disclosed Airline in the world and the only one in Africa operating the new variant.

Airbus A330-800Neo is a sleek and beautiful airplane, and with its low fuel consumption, operational versatility, cabin comfort, longer range and capital costs, it is one of the most efficient airliners on the market.
Uganda Airlines hopes to place its two airliners on long haul routes including Dubai, for which it has already secured clearance, as well as Mumbai, and Guangzhou in China.

If Police Wanted Military Stores Why Vandalise NUP Office

Uganda Police Raid NUP Office

The National Unity Platform (NUP) have dismissed police and UPDF claims that they were looking for military and police stores during their raid on the party offices in Kamwokya, Kampala.

“If the Police says they were looking for military attire, why did they take T-shirts, why did they take the money, why did they take our CCTV cameras,” Mr David Lewis Rubongoya, NUP Secretary General said while appearing on NTV on Thursday morning.

Security operatives Wednesday said their operation at NUP head offices was to recover police and military stores being used by Bobi Wine supporters for political campaigns.

Police and the army raided NUP head office and several shops in different parts of Kampala where they recovered NUP branding materials including T-shirts and red berets.

At a joint press conference Wednesday evening, police and the army told journalists in Kampala that it was illegal for civilians to wear berets, matching outfits, insignia, camouflage fatigues and boots similar to those of armed forces.

Search operations were conducted in different parts of Kampala such as Kamwokya, Makindye, Kiyembe (Luwum Street), Mulago, Bwaise and Kawempe, with the police spokesperson, Mr Fred Enanga, saying, it was intended to stop the production of unauthorized uniforms by illegal manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and sellers.

“Wearing uniforms that are a preserve of the armed forces is illegal behavioral which was escalating especially among some political groups and celebrities. It is a usurpation of the legitimate law enforcement and military functions which is a violation of the law,” Mr Enanga said.

Bobi Wine, 38, has become a popular figure among the youth in a country where the median age is less than 16.

After more than 30 years in power, the 76-year-old Museveni is the only president most have known.

Bobi Wine, nicknamed the “Ghetto President”, announced last year he would challenge Museveni in 2021’s presidential election.

But since becoming an MP in 2017, Wine has been routinely arrested and put under house arrest, his concerts banned and public rallies dispersed with teargas.

Museveni, one of Africa’s longest-serving rulers, had the constitution amended for a second time to allow him to run a sixth time in 2021.

I See an Easy Road Ahead, says MP Thomas Tayebwa

0

Ruhinda North MP, Thomas Tayebwa said Thursday that the 2021 race for his seat will be an easy contest given that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) which he subscribes to has overcome all the challenges in his constituency.

“I think now this is going to be easier. Last time, we had very many challenges but the NRM has done a lot. Our task now will be explaining things NRM has done. We shall be moving together as NRM flag bearers to sell President Yoweri Museveni’s manifesto. There might be challenges of limited government but as a district we should prioritise and use the little we have. Government released money but when you move around, some roads are impassable. To my constituents; if you see a driver or anyone siphoning fuel, please report to the relevant authorities. They are the people frustrating government services,” he said after being duly nominated to contest as a candidate for the same seat in the forthcoming 2021 general election.

He was nominated Thursday at Mitooma District headquarters.

Before his nomination, Mr Tayebwa donated equipment to help in Covid-19 fight before assuring his constituents that all schools and places of worship in his constituency would be reopened.

“Today we have given out 200 temperature guns, 400 masks and face shields, 200 jerrycans of five Litresand 50 jerrycans of 20 litres anti-bacterial hand wash to schools, churches and mosques. Our aim is that no school, no place of worship should be closed in Ruhinda North because we don’t have or don’t follow the SOPs,” the MP said.

He appealed to head teachers in Mitooma to act exemplary to students in observing Ministry of Health guidelines in THE fight against Covid-19.

Instagram to Hide Injurious Comments On Posts to Deplete Cyber-bullying

0

Following the high rate of cyber-bullying these days on social media, Instagram officials have announced that all negative and libellous comments in instagram posts will be automatically concealed as a way of reducing bullying and harassment.

Instagram said that it has been testing the feature in recent days and said it will target comments that users have reported as inappropriate in the past.

Users must now click the ‘View Hidden Comments’ button to unveil a negative comment that has been concealed.

Instagram has also made changes to alert users when they are about to post a negative message.

After typing, they will see a pop-up saying ‘This may go against our guidelines’.

This will serve as a notification that Instagram will probably hide the comment, investigate and perhaps delete their account.

These new warnings let people take a moment to step back and reflect on their words and lay out the potential consequences should they proceed,” Instagram said.

Bullying:

Since launching comment warning, we saw that reminding people of the consequences of bullying on Instagram and providing real-time feedback as they are writing the comment is the most effective way to shift behavior,” the Facebook-owned media platform further said.

Instagram has however not specified what kind of language or comments will be concealed. The platform automatically deletes posts and comments that are obscene, praise organized crime, or threaten bodily harm.

Around 3.5 million users have used the new feature to hide, delete or report accounts and comments in the last year.

Last week Twitter also announced that it will remove any posts wishing or hoping for someone’s death.

We do not tolerate content that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against an individual or group of people,” Twitter said.

Joshua Cheptegei

Athlete Cheptegei Joshua has yet again rose the Ugandan flag higher as he set another world record.

The Ugandan beat Kenenisa Bekele’s long held record in 10,000m that has been in place since 2005 by more than 6 seconds, doing the run in a time of 26:11.0.

This is Cheptegei’s third record-setting race of the year in four races.

The race was organized by his training group, NN Running Team at the NN Valencia World Record Day in Valencia, Spain on Wednesday (7th October 2020) night.

For this record attempt, the runners used Wavelight Technology, a new innovation that uses colored lighting set up along the inside rail of the track to enable athletes to target a specific pace. Pacers Matt Ramsden and Nicolas Kimeli guided Cheptegei through 1600 meters in 4:12, 3,000 meters in 7:52, and 5,000 meters in 13:07 as according to runnersworld.com.

Around 5,200 meters, Kimeli stepped off the track, leaving the remaining 4,800 meters up to the 2019 10,000-meter world champion.

Running alone for the second half of the race, Cheptegei stayed within range of the record while a small crowd of spectators in face masks cheered on the sidelines. With 12 laps to go, Cheptegei accelerated into consistent 62 second splits for each lap, indicating the world record was within range.

At the bell, Cheptegei mustered all of his remaining energy into the homestretch where he drove his arms for one final push into the finish, splitting 60 seconds for the last 400 meters. In 26 minutes and 11 seconds flat, the 24-year-old ran his way into history once again with a 37-second personal best.

Congratulations Joshua…..

Chameleone Regains His Car After Clearing Shs137 Million Tax Bill

0

The singer-cum-politician, Joseph Mayanja – most popular as Jose Chameleone has finally settled the sh137m tax bill and regained back his car, Toyota V8 Land Cruiser model GRJ 200 registration number SSD499B.

It should be remembered that back in April 12th 2020 a certain video went viral when legendary singer Jose Chameleone clashed with URA Officials over claims that the ”Baliwa” hit maker had failed to pay taxes for his new Toyota V8 Land Cruiser that was gifted to him by a South Sudan rich woman.

On that day, officials from the URA intercepted Chameleone on his way to the BBS TV offices (where he had a live performance on Kabaka’s birthday) and asked him to possess the documents for the car which he didn’t have.

Meanwhile, the URA enforcers left the singer to go ahead and finish his scheduled business and the next day ambushed the Kampala Mayor Aspirant’s home to take the car since he had failed to show up its documents for tax payment.

The Anti-Corruption Court has however closed the file in which Chameleone was required to appear in court to answer charges related to sh137m tax evasion.

When the case came up for plea taking, on Monday, the state prosecutor led by Praff Pridah informed the court presided over by Chief Magistrate Pamela Lamunu that the accused person paid the money and he has since repossessed his car.

Your worship I pray the file be closed since the accused has cleared his import tax duty for the vehicle,” she requested. This prompted Lamunu to close the file.

The singer was battling two counts of being in possession of unaccustomed goods and failure to produce documents when required to in line with the East African Community Customs Management Act of 2004.

Congs Jose Chameleone for getting back your exorbitant car!!
