Raymond Mujuni

NTV Uganda has unveiled investigative journalist Raymond Mujuni who has made a return to the station two years after he had quit for Next Media Service’s NBS Television.

NTV Uganda in a brief graphic said: “East or West, NTV is best”.

Mujuni, one of the best Investigative journalists in the country, last week penned an emotional letter to Next Media staff.

He said he has enjoyed working and building this dream mostly with the Investigations Desk and “our news profile.”

Mujuni revealed that the decision to leave was not easy but was occasioned by necessity.

“It didn’t come easy – the decision to leave – but I’m grateful that it now is a reality. In my time with the brand we have improved our news profile, we have held government – and the corporate sector accountable, we have led to national legislation changes, we have sparked national conversations on abortion, sexual harassment, corruption, and even defunct state assets,” he said.

“This has been possible because the platform accorded to me – and you by extension – was a credible, trusted and strong one. It is my prayer that it is maintained by you – the team left behind. My time at Next Media has been nothing short of thrilling, exciting, educative and career-growing. It couldn’t, of course, have been a smooth ride. For the days where the force of hand or word rubbed anyone the wrong way, I deeply and immensely apologise. It wasn’t for ill intent,” he said.

Meanwhile, experienced news anchor and radio programmer, Shawn Kimuli also left NBS TV and Nxt Radio two weeks ago after over 10 years.

“Hi, this is to mention I will no longer be working with Next Media henceforth. It’s taken me time to write this because this is home that I have to leave after 13 years. Let me state that everyone without titles has impacted my career and will remain family. Will miss you. Bye. Shawn Kimuli,” his sign-out message two weeks ago reads.

Kimuli was an anchor on NBS TV and a Programmer at Next Media’s Next Radio.

The Rema and Chris Evans saga on the ‘clear’ singer’s valentine show at Hotel Africana has been trending on social media throughout the weekend. To take a recap, Rema staged a very successful concert on the valentines day at Hotel Africana, where a number of artists, particularly those she has done collabos with, escorted her. Among them included ykee benda, b2c and chris evans.

However, the highlight of Rema’s concert was when Kenzo’s ex welcomed Chris Evans on stage. Prior to his performance, the ‘sibinene’ singer was addressed by Rema herself in a very joking fashion. On welcoming Chris Evans on stage, Rema first joked on him.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me welcome a very good friend of mine, he is the most disciplined musician that i know. He was hammered ten times on his head and still survived. He even has no girlf tonight, so if you’re there lonely, he is free. Ladies and gentlemen allow me welcome Chris Evans”, Rema invited Chris Evans.

The two performed their duet ‘Linda’ and when it turned to Evans’ part, he mentioned the name of Eddy Kenzo while singing. ”This is how Kenzo said to Rema ”(Evans sings his verses)”. This wasn’t received nicely by Rema as he grabbed Evans and tried to pull him off stage. Evans then begged Rema to forgive him which she did and allowed Evans to continue with his performance.

Hilariously, Chris Evans has today come out and asked Rema to give him an official public apology for disrespecting and demeaning him while performing on her concert. Evans stressed that they both joked on each other but he was surprised to see Rema losing her control out of just a mere joke.

Evans says that he heard Rema making fun out of him which he didn’t take serious because he knows jokes bring a great vibe in revelers and that’s why he also joked by mentioning Eddy Kenzo’s name which he says he didn’t mean to hurt her. Lastly, Chris Evans has asked Rema to apologize to him publicly for disrespecting him yet he had come to support her on her concert.

Singer Christopher Evans Kaweesa a.k.a Chris Evans has come out to comment on the saga as Rema Namakula tried to force him off the stage after jokingly mentioning her Ex-boyfriend’s name ‘Kenzo’ while performing their collabo, ‘Linda’ durng her ‘Clear’ concert at Hotel Africana last Friday.

Mid, in the performance of their sensational love song, Chris Evans replaced some lyrics with Rema Nakaula’s baby daddy Edrisa Musuuza, an act that seemd bigger for her to swallow infront of the mammoth crowd that had come to grace the event deciding to cut their performance short.

Here is the Video;

According to Mr Kaweesa, he felt embarassed since even much though he had to apologise for her not to pull him off, she couldn’t listen to him.

He says that Rema used a lot of high handedness in handling the situation stating that she took the joke in bad faith as Musicians usually joke while performing on stage.

Even if she was annoyed, she would not have embarrassed me like that. I want her to apologise.” He says.
