The Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi has been remanded to Luziro Prison until next month, May over protesting against Social Media Tax.

The fast rising politician was today Monday afternoon arraigned before Buganda road magistrates court following a brief detain at Naggalama police station in Mukono district following being earlier arrested.

    The Arrest

The top contending opponent of long-serving President Yoweri Museveni was arrested in the morning in Karerwe near the Mulago junction on his way from his home in Magere as he was reportedly heading to CIID Headquarters in Kibuli where he was supposed to appear as directed by police following his release from house arrest.

It should be noted that Police explained this arrest over trying to incite violence.

    The Charges

Grade one Magistrate Esther Nahirya read him charges including disobedience of statutory duties contrary to section 116 of the Penal Code Act.

The reported charges and remand have been confirmed by his attorney Asuman Basalirwa and he is set to return to court on Thursday this week, 2nd May.
