Seanice Kacungira Departure Spurs Endless Tributes

0

The news of the departure of one of the longest serving radio presenter at the oldest FM radio in Uganda, Seanice Kacungira has left her fans crestfallen.

Soon after announcing her departure from Sanyu FM, where she has been a presenter at a morning show, her depressed fans have since then came out to pour out their tributes and praises to the radio siren.

“You cannot be remotely serious about this… .surely you are hitting below the belt! If I am gonna miss you, that will be the understatement of the millennium! Sean, I don’t know how to express this…..only that you cannot go away now.You just cannot,” said Hannington Ssemwanga.

“I talked to you guys just the other morning when you were asking about chatting up a girl. I liked your view that ‘yes, you will one day ask for the goodies but it is better to make it understood by the girl that that is not your primary aim.”

Ssemwanga went added that Seanice had instead advised men to start something mutually likeable for the “both of you (and your girl/fiancé).

“If you go, my morning will never be the same again. Knowing that you won’t return……But well, if you really have to…. may the Almighty guide you, lead you and protect you in your new adventure,” Ssemwanga paid his tribute.

“You leaving? Did you and James Onen (Seanice’s co-presenter) fight? Why are you leaving?” asked Ronald Nyeko in disbelief.

“Change is a common denominator. You served with abundant passion. I don’t know how Onen will deal with your absence. Though i guess it has been long overdue! Good going and all the best with your career,” Jude Obitre said.

“May the good Lord go before you to another level. Thank you for the service. God bless you in all your endavours,” Richard Nyeko said.

“I have a solution, lets increase her pay, secure her a new vehicle complete with Lukwago-like security, move Sanyu fm studio to the ground floor: with a gym and fresh towels clearly labeled She-a-Nice and see if she abandons us! Happy hunting dear. Spread those wings, conquer the universe evidently the world isn’t strong enough to hold you down,” said Jasper Rwot.

Just like the rest, a dispirited Lina Asiimwe said it was too sad she was leaving radio. “i have listened to other presenters do the show with fat boy and just kept drumming my fingers on the wheel, saying ‘when is sean coming back?’ you and Onen were the real deal! …but good luck in your new direction.”

Seanice’s Radio Journey

Seanice has been on radio for over sixteen years having worked with Sanyu fm before leaving for Capital fm Kenya in 2005. She returned in 2010 only to rejoin Sanyu fm.

She also presented a bi weekly lifestyle show on WBS TV with a panel of four women with Melinda, Olga and Crystal being the others although the show stopped airing in 2012.

However, although she is leaving Sanyu radio, the 30 year old will not be completely out of media. She owns a digital agency called Blue Flamingo, that does audio and television production.

She also runs a salon called Suqa.

Her Love Life

Though she is 30, an age she will tell you without wasting even a second, Seanice is not yet married. She was to walk down the aisle with her then fiancé Christian Gronlund a while back only for her to call it off just months to the main day.

She attributed her cancellation to “feeling trapped and suffocated, and I realised that I was not ready to get married. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.”

Seanice says the two emerged from it (relationship) stronger and better friends and they still relate with each other but not dating.

“He is my best friend and even the way we relate with other now is better. He is a lawyer and is even the one who looked at my contract for Tusker Twende Kazi and encouraged me to take the opportunity,” Seanice told kenyan media in March.

Pallaso ‘Steals’ Radio and Weasle Amaaso Show

0

Singer Pallaso formerly known as Lizard Friday turned out the biggest entertainer at the Amaaso Album launch.

The dreadlocked singer who until eight years ago was singer under Leon Island managed by his Brother Jose Chameleon.

However, upon leaving the country, less was known from him not until of recent when he featured on Goodlyf’s Amaaso song.

Wearing a sleeveless T-shirt in gold colours, black leather pants and black long shoes, Pallaso came onto stage during the time Radio & Weasle left for a break and indeed utilised the time to the fullest.

Started with Save Me, before singing his hit single Mudigide sending the crowd wild. This was a big hit by the time the musician left the country. The was followed by Pallaso’s latest songs which have all turned out as hits across the country.

Singing Read for You, a song he did with GNL and his singing partner Mess, revelers joined in, singing along. As if this was not enough, Pallaso was joined on stage by Sheebah for their Mudongo hit turning the whole place on fire.

The song is currently receiving tremendous airplay on local airwaves and has managed to establish itself as a club anthem across the country.

But this alone was not enough to turn up the place. It was Sheebah’s dances that did the magic that almost all of her verse was left to the crowd!

After performing for a period of over 15minutes, he decided to take a rest though befor he could leave the stage, MC Kats, the mc of the night had this to say, “do you remember the days when we would walk from DV8 (on Wilson Road) to Club silk to perform?”

“No…we used to get a boda boda,” replied a smiling Pallaso.

Kats basing on the love which was showed to the musican while on stage, he asked him to return back to Uganda.

“Why don’t you return and make money here. Didn’t you see how fans liked your music?” Kats asked.

Radio and Weasle came back on stage before they were later joined by Pallaso for their breakaway song, Amaaso.

Pallaso sings the last verse of the song and had a good time when he repeated it over and over again upon the request of fans before leaving stage.

He currently based in the US has recorded new songs with all his brothers, Jose Chameleon, Weasle and AK47.

Pallaso Good Lyfe singer Weasel, was famous for his Mudigidde hit before he left the country with Jose Chameleone for a musical tour in the US several years ago. On reaching US, he hooked up with an American girlfriend and he chose to stay.

He later changed his stage name from Lizard after serving a one year jail term for lack of immagiration papers to Pallaso.

Rugby Safety Questioned After Death

0
Questions about the safety of rugby have been reawakened by the tragic death of Aberdeen Shikoyi, captain of Kenya’s ladies team.
Shikoyi passed away Saturday night, a week after being injured in the first leg of the ladies Elgon Cup, which Uganda won 15-6 at Kyadondo Rugby club. The Kenyan skipper was stretchered off in the second half following a crunching if not unusual tackle from a bigger Ugandan opponent that subsequently left Shikoyi in the middle of a scrum.
Medical reports indicate Shikoyi died of spinal damage after surgery at Kenya’s ICU hospital failed to save her.
To the tightly-neat East African rugby fraternity, Shikoyi’s death will be a major blow. To the untrained eye, it will be more evidence about the dangers of the sport. Confirmation that the game is not merely a collision sport but a dangerous one.
Uganda team doctor Leonard Were refutes the description of the game as dangerous, stressing that Shikoyi’s death was rare tragedy.
“I cannot say rugby is dangerous sport,” said Were, who has witnessed the physical demands of the game from his playing days.
Were conceded that “our bodies are not metals” but added that “what happened to the Kenyan captain was very unfortunate.
“I played rugby from 1992 to 2002 and I have been a rugby doctor for the last six years but I can’t recall a player dying because of a tackle,” added Were, who works for the International Medical Group.
Doubts about the safety of rugby are as old as the game but studies have consistently suggested it is no more dangerous than other contact sports. An investigation by the English rugby union released early this year, titled the 2010-11 England Rugby Injury and Training audit, reached the same conclusion.
“Despite the perception that players are bigger, faster and stronger, there isn’t any evidence that the injury rate has increased in professional rugby since 2002,” said the report.
The report also found that approximately half of all injuries occur in tackles. The next most common cause is running and then the ruck.
Still, rugby’s overly-physical nature dictates the risk of serious injury is ever present and as in Shikoyi’s story, serious injury can lead to a fatal outcome.

Museveni, Pro-Amama Youths Battle Each Other at Kyankwanzi

0

President Yoweri Museveni and Pro-Amama Mbabazi supporters on Tuesday battled each other at a Kyankwanzi resolution meeting held in Lango sub-region in Lira district.

The meeting was organized by the Northern Youth MP Evelyn Anite to meet the youths to convince them to support President Yoweri Museveni as the sole candidate of NRM Party.

According to the Daily Monitor, the pro-Amama Mbabazi youths were beaten and denied access to meeting.

They were blocked from accessing Lira Hotel where MP Anite was meeting the other youths.

The vice chairperson for the NRM youth league in northern Uganda, Mr Willy Omodo-Omodo, told Daily Monitor that other pro-Amama Mbabazi youth were manhandled and some robbed of their property like money.

Some of the victims of the beating are the youth councillor for Lira Municipality, Mr Walter Abura, and Mr Alyana Okello Alyana, a youth from Barr Sub-county in Lira.

However, Police claims to be unaware of such an incident.

Omodo and Luzindana Adam vice chairman in Kampala were last month granted bail by the Anti-Corruption Court Grade One Magistrate, Micheal Lagara on charges with corruption.

The duo are accused for collecting signatures and trying to oppose the resolution made by NRM MPs in Kyankwanzi that President Yoweri Museveni should be the flag bearer of 2016 elections.
