President Yoweri Museveni and Pro-Amama Mbabazi supporters on Tuesday battled each other at a Kyankwanzi resolution meeting held in Lango sub-region in Lira district.
The meeting was organized by the Northern Youth MP Evelyn Anite to meet the youths to convince them to support President Yoweri Museveni as the sole candidate of NRM Party.
According to the Daily Monitor, the pro-Amama Mbabazi youths were beaten and denied access to meeting.
They were blocked from accessing Lira Hotel where MP Anite was meeting the other youths.
The vice chairperson for the NRM youth league in northern Uganda, Mr Willy Omodo-Omodo, told Daily Monitor that other pro-Amama Mbabazi youth were manhandled and some robbed of their property like money.
Some of the victims of the beating are the youth councillor for Lira Municipality, Mr Walter Abura, and Mr Alyana Okello Alyana, a youth from Barr Sub-county in Lira.
However, Police claims to be unaware of such an incident.
Omodo and Luzindana Adam vice chairman in Kampala were last month granted bail by the Anti-Corruption Court Grade One Magistrate, Micheal Lagara on charges with corruption.
The duo are accused for collecting signatures and trying to oppose the resolution made by NRM MPs in Kyankwanzi that President Yoweri Museveni should be the flag bearer of 2016 elections.
