With just a  few days left to the presidential and parliamentary elections in Uganda, there is no love lost between supporters of  Science and Innovation Minister, Dr Elioda Tumwesigye, an independent candidate in the Sheema Municipality MP race and NRM candidate, Mr Dicksons Kateshumbwa’s supporters.

Latest news from Sheema is that scores of Kateshumbwa’s supporters are nursing grave injuries after they were raided and beaten by Dr. Elioda’s supporters.

According to the Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson, Mr Martial Tumusiime, violence ensued at around 3pm on Sunday in Kyagaju central cell, Kyagaju ward, Kabwohe division, Sheema municipality, where supporters of the two rival groups met along the road following Minister Tumwesigye’s rally in Kyagaju central cell.

“There was an aspect of political activity, where a good number of people mostly from Kateshumbwa’s side sustained injuries. Police went to the scene and contained the situation and the case was reported at Sheema Police station by one of the injured supporters,” Mr Tumusiime said.

“We don’t encourage this madness of people fighting at rallies. Politics is politics and people should not be misled to fight against each other,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, Mr Kateshumbwa said that violence against “innocent people” was uncalled for.

“This kind of violence against innocent people orchestrated by a minister facing defeat is unacceptable. He brought in kifeesi goons during primaries, they were arrested, now he has brought in thugs to terrorize people,” Mr Kateshumbwa tweeted.  However, the minister, claims the attacks are stage managed to elicit sympathy from his opponent and disrupt his campaigns.

Sarah Zawedde on Zawee Band

0

Watching Sarah Zawedde and the Zawee Band perform dispels the myth that Ugandan musicians are not good at live performing. Speaking to Sarah, the lead singer and founder of the Zawee Band, we found out that she also has a passion for washing cars…

Who is Sarah Zawedde?

“Sarah is simple, social ambitious and a fighter. What you see is what you get- I do not pretend to be something that I am not.”

When was the Zawee Band born?

“We started performing in October 2010. We will celebrate our 2nd birthday in October this year. We intend to hold a concert in commemoration of that and I will launch some new songs that we as a band have been working on.”

Why the name Zawee?

“Zawee, short for Zawedde is a nickname that my close friends call me so it is a name that I could relate with.”

Where and when does the Zawee Band perform?

“Right now we perform every other Thursday at Boda Boda Restaurant from 7:30pm till the last customer leaves. We also perform at functions on invitation.”

What do you do in your free time?

“I practice for shows depending on the different schedules. I love to read and watch TV and I also love to cook and drink black tea.”

When did you get your big break?

“My career began in 2004 when I tried out for the Coca Cola Pop Stars Music Competition. I did not win the prize but that was when I realized my dream to become a musician. My big break came in 2007 when Silver Kyagulanyi wrote my first hit song, ‘Kambere Nawe’ [Let me be with you].”

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you have liked to do?

“I have a passion for washing cars so I would have opened up a car wash by now. I probably would be one of the car washers as well. In fact, I still intend to open up a car wash in the near future, so do not be surprised when I come forward and offer to wash your car.”

What three words would properly describe you?

“Social, Ambitious, Perfectionist.”

Where can we get your music?

“Most of my songs are available on YouTube. There is one that is a hit with my fans, ‘Ndimukazzi’- I am a Woman. It talks about womanhood and the challenges a person will go through life.”

What is your greatest weakness/strength?

“My greatest weakness is that when I am focused on something I will not change direction until I have achieved it and sometimes it means I waste time on a lost cause. Then my greatest strength is that I always reach for my goals and never give up no matter what.”

What does your music entail?

“As a band, we appreciate culture and try and intertwine the latest modern beats with our local music. Reason we fuse the Western and Ugandan culture is because now it is internationally acceptable and we have to move with the times.”

What are some of your achievements as a musician?

“In 2008, I was nominated at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards for best female artist, then in 2010 at the DIVA awards nominated for an award for best reggae artist. The most recent achievement is that I started up my own band.

How can you be reached if anyone wanted to book you for a performance?

I can be reached at Boda Boda after our weekly performance. They also have my contacts if anyone is interested.

Much has happened in Eddy Kenzo’s life in 2019 including losing his longtime partner and mother to his youngest daughter, Rema Namakula. Rema was legally taken by another man known as Dr Hamza Sebunya, and she is now a full Sebunya as well after the outrageous introduction ceremony they did on 14th November 2019.

This left the BET Award winner hurt and depressed but he has vowed that among the major things he looks up to in 2020 is to get himself a lover as he is now single. The top tier artist said he wants to get someone who understands his public lifestyle because he is a public figure and the best part of their love will definitely be in public.

When asked about his two daughters, the semyekozo singer said he often hears from his first daughter, Maya Musuuza, but rarely hears from his last born daughter, Aamal Musuuza – whom they share with ex girlfriend Rema. He however said that he believes everything will be okay as life moves on and hopes the two, Rema and Hamza, will sit and agree to give him a right to talk to his daughter when the honeymoon days are over.

Put Your Small Brain To Maximum Use To Make A Hit Song – Eddie Sendi to Geosteady

0

The previous few days singer Geosteady branded a music critic, Eddie Sendi, a STUPID OLD MAN after the Dembe FM’s ‘Talk and Talk’ show presenter called him an ill-mannered musician. On the talk and talk show, Eddie Sendi said that one time he wanted to give business to Geosteady but the singer was too disrespectful thus calling him ill-mannered.

In response, the singer went on his socials (facebook, instagram and twitter) to write his bitter response to the music critic’s sentiments. In his post, George William Kigozi alias Geosteady wrote:

‘SO EDDIE SENDI SAYS I’M ILL MANNERED ASKING TO PLAY LIVE BAND INSTEAD OF A DIGITAL PERFORMANCE. SOME PEOPLE SHOULD LEARN THE MUSIC BUSINESS I’M AIN’T ANYBODY’S FATHER!! STUPID OLD MAN’. Geosteady posted on 29th December 2019.

However, in today’s talk and talk show, the music critic has also replied to Owooma hit maker’s post. In first place, Sendi said ‘Am happy that small boy listens to our show’. He bitterly went on to tell the singer to use his small brain to maximum use to make a hit song. The music critic also said he is happy for being old and if Geosteady hates old people, let him go kill his father first to prove his hatred towards old people.

Wait for the Natural talent in 2020 – Jose Chameleone Roars

0

It’s a no-brainer, Jose Chameleone is one of the great musicians Uganda has ever got. The tatizo hit maker has however been so silent throughout 2019 due to politics .

The legendary musician, whose talent is of course undeniable, has hitted back at critics who had started to aver that he has dimmed. Via his live instagram video, the hopeful Kampala Lord Mayor said he is still hot and warned all those with artificial talents applauding themselves that they have been great in 2019 to be watchful in 2020 for the God given talent in him.

Chameleone further said that some of the musicians have been shaking artificial bums and it’s now time to shake the natural bums. To show how serious he was, Daniella’s hubby spoke all these in a studio making a song which its title is yet to be known and was produced by Brian Beats.

Best 10 Places Where to Eat in Kampala

0

Many aspects of Kampala can be overwhelming to visitors, and the dining experience is no exception. With food from just about every continent around City Square alone, it can be hard to choose just one.

1000 Cups, located on Buganda Road, offers a quick and delicious caffeine boost of Uganda’s finest coffee. All the options means that it’s easy to avoid the fall-back choices – American, Chinese, and Indian, and opt for more exotic tastes, like Greek, Turkish, Korean, or Cuban.

The prices vary as much as the styles – Antonio’s Grille, by City Square on Kampala Road, has quick meals for under USH6,000.

Upscale Fang Fang, however, will send you back to the ATM.

You might enjoy eating pork sticks at Faze 2, an oasis of calm in bustling Kampala. Faze 2 captures the diverse food choices within Kampala, with a full menu of Western, Asian, and African entrees.

Plates at Faze 2 start at USH12,000, but I learned the hard way that drinks cost almost twice what they would at other places.
Beneath a canopy of trees, the largely outdoor restaurant was another quiet retreat from Kampala’s busy downtown. The dining area was less than half full by late evening, and it was mostly a local business crowd.
