Car Rental Terms: Know What You Are Hiring

0

In every official business dealing, there has to be a written document that shows that the two parties making trade have come into agreement to get the business done. This also applies in car rental business in Uganda; there is a black and white printed paper that explains what the terms and conditions one has to agree upon to rent a car from the rental company. In essence, this agreement explains what the car rental service package is all about for a given company.

Most Uganda Car Rentals have their own car rental agreements and there is no way a traveler can hire a car from a serious agency without reading and endorsing one. Different car hire companies have different clauses/ terms and conditions of hiring a car but there are some common clauses that are found in all in the different car rental agreements of different car rental companies.

Here are the main clauses in the car rental agreement to look at while hiring a car in Uganda

Identification of the hirer

This is the first clause of every agreement as it asks of disclosing the particulars of the person wishing to hire the vehicle. The particulars ask of the hirer are his name, nationality, place of residence and occupation

Vehicle description and the duration of the car rental services

This talks about the model and the type of car one is hiring and the number plate. This validates whether the car asked for by the hirer is the actual given to him or her. In addition, it talks about the number of days the hirer is wishing to rent the car. The destinations where one will be driving to.

Mode and amount of payment of the rental car

This stipulates the method used for the payment of the rental that is whether the money was paid by cash or electronic transfer. It goes an extra mile to indicate the currency used for payment and also exact the amount of money paid for the whole duration of the rental experience.

Usage of the rental car

This clause explains the hirer’s obligations while driving the vehicle. This is talks about the way the hirer is supposed to act and also use the car. This is a very important clause as it shows how one is supposed to drive in Uganda in order to minimize accidents as some important driving tips are indicated.

Damages and insurance

This is a very sensitive clause that every hirer has to read very carefully and understand because the damages caused on the car is the main reason as to why many travelers curse the rental experience  when they fail to agree with the company on who to pay for the damages caused while using the car. Damages and accidents occur both avoidable and unavoidable but there has to a price to solve or put them right. So this clause explains to what extent the hirer is liable for the damages caused on the vehicle while driving it that is when to pay or not to pay for the damages. Record that most of the rental cars have comprehensive insurance. It also explains what the hirer is supposed to do when an accident occurs.

The return of car clause

This explains the condition in which one is supposed to return the car. this talks about the time one is supposed to return the car, what would happen in case one returns it late and also what one is meant to do if he/she wants to extend his/her rental duration.

It also talks about fuel refilling as most of the rental cars given to travelers go with some amount of fuel to kick start the journey and the other hand one is supposed to return the car with almost the exact fuel the car had when it was given to him/her. It should also be clean as delivered to the hirer

Breach of contract

This clause discusses the penalties a client faces when he/she violates the clauses or term and conditions he/she endorsed on while renting a car.

Therefore every traveler wishing to hire a car in Uganda has to carefully read and comprehend the above clauses of the car rental agreement so that no disagreements between you and the rental company occur over the car hire services.

Am an African Legend, stop comparing Me to Diamond and Burna Boy, Eddy Kenzo brags

0

Locally in Uganda, he doesn’t really fit in the same mould with his fellow musicians as he is honestly a class apart chiefly when it comes to International scene. Eddy Kenzo has gone further to blow his own trumpet that he is far better than Tanzania’s crooner, Diamond Platinumz, and Nigeria’s hoarse-voiced Burna Boy.

This happened after Eddy Kenzo was interviewed and asked why he thinks he was ranked ahead of Diamond Platnumz when Nigeria-based Global Ranking revealed the top 10 African musicians of the last decade. On this list, Eddy Kenzo finished 9th ahead of Diamond Platnumz who finished 10th as Burna Boy missed out on the list as well.

The self-styled young Mandela seemed to be very confident that he really deserves to be on top of the two artists whom the interviewer was trying to juxtapose him with. The BET Award winner said he has really stood for a test of time as compared to the Wasafi CEO singer and he has always been consistent year in, year out!

Going ahead to defend himself, the Big Talent boss said some people think that the Babalao singer is too big because of the youtube views which he blasted saying that he gets many views simply because Tanzania’s internet is very cheap contrary to Uganda’s.

For the sake of Burna Boy, he said the Nigerian superstar has few original songs to his name as he keeps on redoing early musicians’ songs yet he (Eddy Kenzo) composes his own songs. He also said that Diamond is mainly a collaborator and most of his hit songs are collabos unlike him.

Below is Eddy Kenzo’s Interview; Video courtsey of Radio 4:

Looking Back: The Most Expensive Football Transfers in the 2010s

0

Football is the most popular sport in the world – it is the most widespread, it has the most fans, and it is played by men and women of all ages in pretty much every country. With such a massive following, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is also the sport with the most money involved. Participating in a major international tournament brings clubs revenues that beat even the most generous jackpot at the Betway Casino, and players are transferred between teams for amounts that make athletes playing other sports pale with envy. How big, you might ask? Let’s take a look at the most expensive football transfers in the 2010s.

5. Paul Pogba and Ousmane Dembélé (tie – €105 million)

In the last ten years, the world record of a football transfer fee was broken several times. Paul Pogba’s transfer from Juventus Turin to Premier League club Manchester United was one of the transfers that did the same: the English club paid €105 million (GHS 663 million) to have him back in 2016.

French Promising youngster Ousmane Dembele

A year later, Ousmane Dembélé left the German team Borussia Dortmund to play with Spanish side Barcelona for the same amount – his transfer broke the record for the Spanish national league at the time but it was nowhere near the top.

4. Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann (tie – €120 million)

Philippe Coutinho’s transfer from English team Liverpool to Barcelona didn’t break any world records in 2018, and Coutinho wasn’t even the most expensive player of the year (that distinction was reserved for another young player – see below).

Antoinne Griezmann (Right) while still playing for Atletico Madrid cruising past Barcelona’s Phillippe Coutinho

This doesn’t make the fact that the Spanish side paid €120 million (GHS 758 million) to have him. A year later, French player Antoine Griezmann joined Coutinho at Barcelona for the same amount, making him one of the most expensive players of last year – still, he was nowhere near the top at the time.

3. João Félix (€126 million)

The most expensive player of 2019 was a 19-year-old wunderkind from Portugal – João Félix, at the beginning of his road, didn’t play many matches with the first team of Benfica but he definitely made an impression.

Joao Felix during La Liga match between Club Atletico de Madrid and Levante UD at Wanda Metropolitano

And the impression was big enough for him to be courted by several major European teams before being signed by Atlético Madrid for a fabulous amount: €126 million (GHS 796 million).

2. Kylian Mbappé (€135 million)

Kylian Mbappe

Another youngster that switched teams for a fabulous amount was Kylian Mbappé who, at the age of 19, left Monaco for the French team Paris Saint Germain in a record-breaking transfer. With €135 million (GHS 852 million), he became the most expensive teenage player to be signed by a major team, the most expensive player of 2018, and one of the sensations of the football world. Still, this transfer pales behind the all-time record holder, none other than…

1. Neymar (€222 million)

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, known simply as Neymar, is the all-time world record holder when it comes to transfer fees.

PSG and Brazilian Super star Neymar Jr

The Brazilian football legend switched teams in 2017 for an amazing €222 million (GHS 1.4 billion), leaving the Spanish team Barcelona to continue playing with Paris Saint Germain. Since then, the 27-year-old forward scored more than 40 goals for his new team, participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and was even rumoured to return to Barcelona.
