NTV Uganda

NTV is set to fire 90% of their employees in the production department, according to a reliable source.

NTV Among those said to be affected include; Jacky Ssenyondo, Raymond Walusimbi, Sserwanga Peter, Ejur David and One Nicholas.

They are to be replaced by Buddies Productions, which is owned by J Kazoora. It will produce almost 10 of NTV’s.

Kazoora’s production Buddies is to be supplemented by other production houses including Phaz Motions managed by Phad mutumba, who is the husband of the creative director Xena Batarinza. Apparently Xena currently stays in Canada. It is from here that she manages the creative.
When we contacted NTV’s Human Resource manager, Solomon Muhirwa on phone he confirmed that they had secured the services of some production houses.

“Yes it is true we have secured the services of some production houses but that is not new. We have been running adverts calling for different production houses to apply since the year began. Those that went through are the companies that have been hired,” he said.

Pressed about the report that NTV is to fire 90% of its production team, Muhirwa said, “I don’t know whether we are to fire or not but perhaps the person who told you has enough details. You can go back to that person for more details otherwise; we haven’t made any communication relating to what you are talking about.”

It is not yet known whether this is part of Nation Media’s latest restructure but is known is, that Nation Media, which own the NTV brands closed down two radio stations and a TV station last week.

Chris Obore’s Comments On Muhoozi Return To Haunt Him

0
Chris Obore

Former Daily Monitor journalist and KFM presenter, Chris Obore once one of the biggest critics of President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come out to the defence of Muhoozi’s latest rank.

Muhoozi was this week elevated from the rank of Brigadier to that of Major General.

“Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba should never be promoted because he is a son of a president?”he asked in a post on social media written Thursday.

“In fact he should even aspire to be President then the voters decide,” he adds. “There is a better way to disagree than seeking to exclude maliciously. Every serious child must seek to do better than his or her parents did. For Muhoozi being President should not be a crime. He should only aspire to do better if he became President.”

To Obore, what Muhoozi should be preparing for following his recent raise in the army should be preparing for the biggest office in the country.

“It’s all he can be in Uganda because anything less than that will not have made him do better than his parents.”

Obore, currently the director of communications and public affairs of parliament was once a known big critic of Muhoozi during his days as a guest on the KFm Drive.

And some of his followers couldn’t miss reminding him his old times until he joined government last year.

“Chris I have seen how the power of the big man has transformed you! You are the opposite of the former KFM morning drive!” commented a one Denish Angol.

In one of his commentaries published in 2011, Obore criticized Museveni, accusing him of running Uganda like his farm which he could pass to his children at any time of wish.

“You might probably suspect that President Yoweri Museveni runs Uganda likes his personal farm which, he can, by will, pass onto any of his children as heir. But those who ardently support him say his critics were the ones drawing such farfetched conclusions. However, going by the recent elections, one can see the footprints of a man who intends to pass on Uganda to a member of his family and most probably the son Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba,” Obore writes.

The Plan

“This is how the plan works. President Museveni continues to be President at all costs, including of course rigging elections.

As this goes on, members of his family are slowly introduced in politics. Already, Muhoozi is militarily entrenched. He is also spreading his political influence through networks of youth. Muhoozi also funds some MPs to get into parliament. This is to create for him a political base such that when he finally announces his crossing to politics, he would already be running a network. Actually, while a lot of money was recently spent in campaigns, this money was firmly in the control of the sons-in law mostly Ephraim Kamuntu and Odrek Rwabwogo. Anyone who needed cash, had to be in the good books of either Museveni or any of his family members.

“As they traversed the country distributing cash for votes, the sons also built a network parallel from the official NRM party structures. Anyway, this parallel network they are creating, is meant to serve the interests of the family rule. This how they intend to achieve it. Aware that the country is run on a cash economy meaning that without hard cash no one finds life easy, Museveni’s family has consolidated its grip on the money. They have also realised that social services must be provided in bits so that people continue relying on money to get services.

This clientele type of management, according to Museveni’s model adopted from South Korea and China, is intended to keep people reliant on the government which in Uganda’s case is Museveni and his family. To create a class of few rich people heavily linked to the First Family is the ultimate aim.

To achieve that, Museveni is seriously pushing for the lowering of the retirement age to 55. But because that one is facing resistance, Museveni has ordered the Prime Minister to write a circular asking all senior civil servants to be put on 6 month contracts. Covered in this is to force the civil service to deliver but the political mission is to get rid of some civil servants to create jobs for young cadres who will help propagate the family rule.”

“And civil servants who have already made their money are going to be placed on servaillance in case they use the money to support Opposition activities. Museveni also hopes to use oil money to distribute wealth to the network that will help him achieve his family rule. Therefore, Ugandans are going to face hard life even with oil money flowing. The only worry for Museveni is that new approach the West has adopted in fighting African dictators.

My sources say the big man is actually worried that the Americans could destroy his dreams. To try to please Americans, he is willing to do anything for them so that they pay a deaf ear to Ugandan Opposition. Meanwhile, he is also thinking about putting a weakling as Uganda’s President after him such that his son takes over later to give it legimimacy that the son got it like any other person. It’s the choice of whom to handover power ton later give to his son that is giving Museveni sleepless nights. My sources say that increasingly, he has few people to trust in his party. Therefore, things to watch are the people he appoints to his Cabinet.”

Uganda Police Raid Mbabazi Home & Office: Over 30 Arrested

0

Uganda Police Force has raided home and offices of independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi today morning and arrested over 30 people.

Go Forward Spokesperson Josephine Mayanja Nkangi tweeted that Police randomly arrested over 30 people at Plot 29, Nakasero where Mbabazi offices are located.

“30 male supporters randomly ‘arrested’ by Uganda Police Force Flying Squad. Plot 29 #GoForward offices #Gestapo #PandaGari #UgandaDecides @UgandaEc,” she tweeted.

About two hours ago, she tweeted that police arrested three guests at Mbabazi residence in Kololo.

“Frank Kabali, Eriya Mayinja, Abdul Kasaija guests of @AmamaMbabazi picked up outside residence @ 9.20am by VCCU #PandaGari #UgandaDecides.”

The arrests come at the backdrop of warning from president Museveni to Mbabazi supporters who whipped his party supporters in Ntungamo recently.

Addressing journalists at Mbale State lodge, he said; “If you go and put your finger in the anus of a leopard. You are in trouble, you are in trouble. Ho! Ho! I cannot believe how people could do so. NRM?, you attack NRM people in Uganda here? If it is in South Sudan or Kenya, yes we may have some problems. But in Uganda here? Where do you go? Where do you go?!”

He added; “the thugs are being rounded up, they have been arrested. They will pay very dearly. You don’t attack; you have no right even to point a finger at me. Am here, I am a Ugandan, I am a free person – you come and attack me like that. There are even some I saw beating our people with clubs, Hooo! He will regret.”

Inside Anne Kansime’s 100 Million Law Suit Against UTL

0
Anne Kansiime

Don’t be mistaken ladies and gentlemen; this is not the usual stand-up comedy dish from the country’s top comedienne.

I have it on good record that Anne Kansiime has dragged by the horns Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) and delivered the financially struggling firm to the courts of law.

Reason?  Her anger stems from UTL’s ‘illegal’ usage of her mage and voice in TV commercials.

“I authorized UTL to use my voice and image in the past, but the contract to that relationship expired. Yet UTL has been using my voice and image in its commercials since January 2016,” Anne Kansiime rants.

She is perturbed that much as she has been willing to settle the matter without recourse all along, UTL has been acting arrogantly towards her.

“UTL had accepted to talk over the matter initially, but when my lawyers moved over to UTL for the talks, the defendant retorted that no such meeting had been arranged.”

Kansiime’s lawyers wrote to UTL in March this year, bringing the issue of wrongful use of her voice and image to the firm. She has tabled letters written by her lawyers to the court.

Aside from UTL, Kansiime is suing the insolvent WBS TV station as well as NBS TV Station for running the ‘unauthorized’ commercials on behalf of UTL.

“ I request that the illegal commercials be produced to court for destruction. I also pray that court assesses the financial benefit the defendants have derived from the illegal commercials,” Kansiime demands.

Had UTL entered a commercial contract with her as opposed to using her services for free, Kansiime says she would have earned a cool Uganda shillings 100 million. Apart from demanding to be paid the money in question with interest, the comedian seeks unspecified compensation arising out of the invasion of her privacy.

She further prays for compensation for pirating her voice and image rights, for causing her loss of earning as well as for tossing her up when she had agreed to talk over the matter.

City lawyers of Kirunda, Wasiga and Company Advocates are filing the lawsuit on behalf of the entertainer.

Taking court through her entertainment worth, Kansiime states “I am one of the leading performers in East Africa. I have cultivated and possess distinct skills, personality rights which include my voice and image rights and other content on which I rely to earn a living.”

Kansiime informs court that such rare attributes as the one possessed by her has helped her to win a number of local and international awards.

She explains, “Indeed I have performed and rendered such services to the rest of the world and by doing so I have established a fair and growing market value for my services.”

She tables some of the lucrative contracts she has penned with companies in Uganda and beyond in order to demonstrate more what kind of entertainer she is in the world of comedy and singing.

She lays out to court the genesis of the standoff that gives rise to the current legal battle. She narrates that it all started on January 19, 2016 when UTL penned a contract with NBS to run its commercials using her voice and image. She says UTL didn’t seek her consent before writing the contract.

She attaches the memo of understanding between UTL and NBS TV as part of its documentary evidence. After negotiating with NBS, Kansiime adds UTL did the same with WBS TV station. WBS is under management of Uganda Revenue Authority after its owners failed total of Ushs7bn in taxes.

The file of Kansiime’s case has been placed before Justice Jane Alividiza to handle. But, the defendants have been given a chance to respond to the charges within 15 days before the hearing can kick off.

The deputy registrar of the commercial section of the High Court, Thaddeus Opisen wrote to the defendants giving them the 15-days ultimatum to file their respective defenses. The time starts to run from the day each of the defendants receives the court summons.

Opposition Rejects President Museveni Meeting Ahead of Swearing Ceremony

Besigye and Muntu

KAMPALA, Forum for Democratic Change, Uganda main opposition party has rejected a meeting called by President Yoweri Museveni. According to the party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu, FDC has snubbed the meeting because the invite is not formal and it agenda not known.

“FDC is not run like a market. You do not just call us and expect us to coming running for your meeting. President Yoweri Museveni   should have written to us official as a party indicating the agenda of the meeting,” he said.

President Museveni is reported sent invitation to FDC councilors in Kampala for a meeting over the weekend. Some of the councilors are reported to have attended the meeting on Saturday.

Let President Museveni remain with his food at State House we shall not attend the meeting, one councilor said.

When contacted, Uganda Media Centre, executive director, Ofwono Opondo described the angry opposition councilors as petty.

“Have they been tied on ropes to go and meet the President (Museveni). If they are seeking to rule Uganda how will they serve Ugandans if they cannot talk with those who share the same political ideology?” Opondo said.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be sworn in on May 12, 2016 after winning the February 16, 2016 election with 60 per cent while his political rival Dr. Kizza Besigye got 35 per cent results that opposition contest. Besigye claims he won the election with 52 percent, while President Museveni got 45 percent.

Opposition has threatened to protest aimed at disrupting the swearing ceremony an act police vowed to crash.

In 2011, opposition held several protests as Besigye returned from Nairobi Kenya where he had gone for treatment after being paper sprayed by Police Officer Gilbert Arinaitwe. The nasty incident happened at Mulago round about when police used a hammer to break in Besigye’s car and after arrested tim.

How to Register your Business in Uganda – A Step-by-step Guide

0
Registering a Business in Uganda

Do you have a business or want to establish one? Consider registering your business today.

In registering your small business, the four official bodies you will obtain services from are the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and possibly National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Each entity has a user-friendly website listing services offered and related fees.

Obtaining a lawyer for the URSB services is advisable. Remember however, that lawyers are in business to make money and their professional fees vary widely. While Jasper paid Shs1 million to register his business, Annet paid her cousin just Shs200,000. Make sure you research all the fees involved and bargain with your lawyer. Should you decide to file your paperwork independently places like the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Ltd. (UWEAL) have complimentary Help Desks where an officer can provide registration assistance.

Below, a summary of the steps involved and to quote Annet, “You could have your business fully registered and compliant in less than a month.” The filing fees for the two URSB steps below, excluding Stamp Duty which varies, should not exceed Shs200,000.

  • Reserve your company name by having URSB conduct a search to verify that your proposed company name does not belong to anyone else. An online name search option will soon be available on the URSB website.
  • Register your company and obtain a Certificate of Incorporation by submitting a Memorandum and Articles of Association (easily prepared by a lawyer and requires a lawyer’s signature) as well as the following forms: A1 (Statement of Nominal Capital), A2 (Declaration of Compliance with Companies Act – sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths), A3 (within 60 days of Allotment of Shares), A9 (Location of Registered Office) and seven (within 14 days of Appointment of Directors). The forms are available at Uganda Bookshop and at Georgian (formerly Amamu) House where URSB is located. Each form costs under shs.1,000.
  • Although you could fill in URA registration forms online, you will still need to visit a URA office to complete the tax registration process. At URA you will file an approved Personal Inquiry Form for each of your company directors and a Corporate Preliminary Inquiry Form. A URA Inspector will then inspect your business premises and if all is in order, you will receive a Tax Identification Number (TIN). Should your business annual sales exceed shs.50 million, Value Added Tax (VAT) registration is also required. All these URA services are free of charge.
  • The free application form for a trading license may either be obtained from your local KCCA office or downloaded from the KCCA website. A KCCA inspector should then inspect your premises and determine your licensing fee at no cost.
  • In addition to the above, if your business has five or more employees, it must be NSSF registered. The Employer Registration form is available at your local NSSF office and on the NSSF website.

Once your business is registered, be sure to honour all statutory obligations when due.Hope this guide helps, share it if it is useful to you. Have comments or questions, use the comments section below.

City Model’s Undressed Pictures Leaked

0

Looks like we no longer have private affairs or private parts in Uganda. Though it is true that everyone gets naked but we dont take pictures and keep them carelessly. It seems it has been a trend that today’s slay queens have to get naked and take pictures. True you can take pictures and keep them but when they get to the public domain, there will be no way we can’t share these pics with our fans who are out there waiting to ogle on these rare photos! Take the pictures whenever you feel like, but keep them.

Susan of Crystal Models

The latest girl to show her would-be private parts is a one Susan who is apparently attached to Crystal models agency in Kampala. In the pictures, the chocolate skinned babe is seen flaunting her firm, soupy boobs that have since turned into wanking tools for horny dudes.

Susan in Pant

Slopping down to the southern hemisphere, a very large and thick forest is visibly marring her gigantic bean, to the extent that snoops are worried it could be harboring some wild animals.

However unlike other poor quality nudes, Susan’s pictures look to be forethought and voluntary, since she is seen looking straight into the camera lens.

It remains mystery what her intention was, but the biggest people believe she is on the hunt for fame.

What African Dictators Fail To Learn From Amin and Gaddafi

0

Even the best dancer eventually leaves the dance floor, a certain African saying goes. But this is one thing that African dictators don’t seem to put into their minds.

When you cling to power and choose dictatorship as your way of operation, like Amin, the world forgets all the good things you have done, all the achievements you have made, years later are swept under the carpet over shadowed by the bad. I am very sure Amin did the most good as a president but all that comes in the minds of both the foreigners and nationals are the bad things he did. We celebrated Janan Luwum day just two days before the Uganda election, one wonders if a few decades from that day, a public holiday will be declared in remembrance of the occurrences taking place, from the tangent in which things are going in Uganda.

Legacy is much more important than power because it lives beyond your existence. But power is so addictive and blinding that in the minds of dictators, this seems to be a foreign concept. The greatest form of respect is accorded to someone who wins a long fought for prize and is later noble enough not to feel entitled to it, because it was just a cause. Mandela will never die, decades after being laid in his grave.

When African leaders cling to power, they focus on the end not the means which makes them punctuate their activities with impunity, they seem like a woman too desperate to save a failing marriage that she ends up looking for the proverbial Lions whisker. They risk having a blurred vision as to whether the country is their back yard or just their household and think it’s within their discretion where to place a flower pot or where to plant a tree. They feel they are the country, and the country is them and they are doing a huge favor to the country.

Yet decades later, all that they would have accumulated wouldn’t matter and the bad legacy left behind would work against the grand children and children they thought they were working for. No foundation can be set up in the names of Amin and Gaddafi, just the way we have The Mandela Foundation; something that keeps the legacy a burning flame. When you look at the families of Gaddafi and Amin now, I doubt that where they may be is where their fathers wanted them to be, but this is something African dictators seem not to look at.

Uganda had an election and it was humbling to see that former presidents Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Rupiah Banda and Olusegun Obasanjo came to be part of the election observation. These are presidents that would take advantage of the weak constitutions that most African countries have. They were potential dictators and they could have chosen to stay in power until their sight gets the better of them and their lungs can’t do their jobs any more.

The question still stays; why don’t we as Africans learn from the fallen dictators!

MUK Professor Stella Nyanzi Vows to Bonk Kato Lubwama

0

It has now emerged that Makerere University professor Stella Nyanzi is so in love with the huge-eyed comedian turned politician Lubwama. In a long lovey Facebook post, Stella inquired whether the Rubaga south MP is single, since she feels like humping him.

“Can someone tell him that I am single and searching, and I like his big eyes, sense of humour, dress style and solido” she posted.

The masturbating professor actually went ahead to reveal that Lubwama’s comedy triggers her sex appetite. “His comedy turns me on any day. Similar to him, I also love the opposition. I am not high maintenance and I no longer want any more babies,” she posted.

Below is Stella Nyanzi’s post

Is Kato Lubwama single and searching? If not, does he want a side-dish? Now that he is an elected Honorable Member of Parliament, can someone tell him that I am single and searching, and I like his big eyes, sense of humour, dress style and solido. His comedy turns me on any day. Similar to him, I also love the opposition. I am not high maintenance and I no longer want anymore babies. But I am dreaming about the fat-fat-fat income he will soon be falling into as a new Member of Parliament. Where does this handsome Member of Parliament hang out??? I feel like fishing…
