Meet the Gorillas & Wildlife of Uganda

Uganda has both wildlife and primates and this makes it a life time destination. The country has over 10 national parks and many wildlife reserves with full of diversity. These national parks and reserves have much to offer like game drives, both day and night, boat cruises where you can enjoy animals around the water bodies most especially in the afternoon they tend to come and take water, rest or swim.

Among other popular activities in the Ugandan national parks include mountain gorillas tracking, chimpanzee tracking, Nature walks, birding, community and culture, Golden monkey Tracking, Volcano climbing, Mountaineering and etc. All those activities can be done any time of the year.

Mountain gorilla tracking is done in two national parks, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. They are all located in the western Uganda. Mgahinga is known for one habituated mountain gorilla family called Nyakagezi well as Bwindi National Park has quite many. The park has 4 regions, Rushaga, Ruhija, Buhoma and Nkuringa. Each of the region hosts different gorilla families and tracking start from the headquarters after briefing.

Such itinerary can cover Northern Uganda and gorilla tracking where parks like Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison falls can be put into consideration. The Ziwa Rhino sanctuary at Nakitoma is also worth a visit.

The safari can cover only western Uganda. Wildlife parks in the west include, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Semliki National Park and etc. Then after the Itinerary can extend to Uganda’s Bwindi National Park for gorilla tracking.
