Kabako performing

Over the weekend, they were a host of concerts held around the country and one of them was Roden Y Kabako’s. This took place at Joggies Bar in Bulenga, Wakiso on Sunday to mark his journey in the music industry.

Kabako was accompanied and supported by several artists including Sheebah, Martha Mukisa, Spice Diana, King Saha, and Topic.

In the middle of his concert, he found some time to praise Sheebah for providing him with a hand on his way to the top. He revealed how Sheebah advised him to work hard and offered him collaborations and platforms to push his brand.

This is what exactly the energetic singer said, “I have been colleagues with Sheebah for a long time. She comes here to see what we have become today. I attribute my success to her. This could not have happened if it were not for hard work and loyalty”. Roden Y said this when the duo was performing their song “Satani Tonkema”.

The two started out their music career in Team NO Sleep under the management of Jeff Kiwa, a renowned music entrepreneur. They have been friends for such a long time and they are still up to date even when they both left jeff Kiwa’s camp.

Gen. Elly Tumwine Is Dead

0

General Elly Tumwine is dead, one of the 1986 Luwero Bush War veterans. The 68-year-old military man died in Nairobi, Kenya at Aga khan Hospital where he was fighting cancer.

The former minister of security has been battling cancer for some good time. His death has been fakely announced on social media since last year. At the end of last year, he even made a cameo appearance at the National Media center to inform the public that he was still much alive and his death publications were hoaxes.

However, a few weeks ago, his family and the government of Uganda informed the public that the five-star general was airlifted from Nakasero Hospital Kampala to Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi, Kenya when his condition got critical.

Gen Tumwine was announced dead today morning as different reliable sources confirmed after succumbing to cancer-related issues.

Elly Tumwine’s life before death

He was among the 42 young men that went to war in Luweero in the 1980s with 27 guns. They attacked Kabamba barracks to unveil the NRA liberation war of which they became victorious five years later. Tumwine and the now NRA  took over the reigns of governance in Uganda in 1986 up to now.

Tumwine joined Museveni and co in the FRONASA forces in 1978 when he abandoned his teaching career.

Their leader contested in the 1980 elections and after their conclusion, he went to the bush with a mission to liberate Uganda, and created National Resistance Army in 1981 and Tumwine was among the first recruits.

The demised general is uploaded for shooting the first bullet in the operation that launched the 1981 Liberation War in Luwero.

At the end of the war in 1986, he was among the six top officials of the NRA high command which changed into the now UPDF High Command.

He went on to serve in the NRM government in various ministerial positions and his last high rank was the Minister of Security, the role he left in 2021 and made a presidential adviser till his death.

Controversies around Tumwine

While he was cherished among his peer and the NRM government, the downtrodden public labeled him cruel and brutal.

For instance in 2020 when he was the security minister, he annoyed the public by making controversial statements about the mass killing of people around Kampala during the free Bobiwine protests.

From then he was hated by the public and many wished him the worst. When his ailing situation was announced in the public domain. Sarcastic statements were posted on various social media platforms.

Today when he died, jubilant posts were made instead of deploring his demise.

However, as genesis 3:19 says, ” For dust you are and to dust, you shall return”. Rest in peace General Elly Tumwine, we commiserate with your family.

Government To Enforce Law That Bans Skin Lightening Chemicals

Skin Lightening in Uganda

The Government plans to put a ban on all dangerous chemicals and skin lightening chemicals entering the Ugandan market.

This follows the cabinet’s approval of the transformation of National Drug Authority to National Food and Drug Authority.

The new authority will block all dangerous chemicals, lotions and creams from entering Uganda.

Speaking before the cabinet on Thursday, the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Hon Rose Namayanja said some of these chemicals include mercury and hydroquinone that are in many lotions and creams.

These chemicals put many women at the risk of getting skin cancers, diabetes, hypertension among other diseases.

“Cosmetic known to contain hazardous skin lightening chemicals like mercury and hydroquinone will not be tolerated. Abuse of some of these cosmetics is already exposing some of our people to health risks like diabetes, hypertension, kidney ailments and heart disease,” said Hon Namayanja.

Cabinet also aims at blocking blood based products sometimes categorized as pharmaceutical products with the risk of exposing patient to blood transmitted diseases like Hepatitis B. Some biological products like hormones also categorized as pharmaceutical products if not effectively regulated may also expose consumers to diseases like diabetes, hypertension, kidney damage and heart disease.

Cabinet has directed the Ministry of Health to urgently commence the process of drafting amendments to the National Drug Policy and Authority Act, 1993, to pave way for creation of the NFDA.

When the Bill gets to Parliament, Cabinet will also appeal for bi-partisan support due the urgency to protect enhance protection of our citizens.

Police Should Interrogate Speaker Anita Among

0
Embattled Kagabo Twaha

The Anita I know will intimidate every member of Parliament including the leader of opposition who has equally sacrificed his member a one Twaha Kagabo!

Firstly Anita Among denied knowing Twaha Kagabo but in less than five seconds or thereabout she said that Kagabo is a member of Parliament but I don’t know him. Hon. Anita you don’t need to know someone for you to bribe them. But that aside when you keenly watch this parliamentary sitting of Tuesday 9th August and Anita’s body language you realize that there was something fishy.

First she tries to speak but in a space of Micro-seconds she is seemingly chocked by saliva, she kinda coughs and her eyes were shy as she couldn’t keep them straight to both the audience and the cameras there-in as she denied knowing Kagabo. Shockingly still, as she submitted her “defence” she referred the Kagabo to the Parliamentary disciplinary committee! Madam speaker when does the speaker face the disciplinary committee of Parliament? Just asking for a layman.

She said that the said committee was given an hour to come up with the report. Seconds later she said that this committee was given one month to come up with a report. As a keen analyst I took Anita’s body language and her tongue’s inconsistencies for guilt or obstruction of justice.

You know Anita is a smart woman who will never allow to die alone in any movie specially when she is such movie’s director like this one of 40m and that’s why her boot-lickers like Dr. Macho Geoffrey (Busia Municipality MP) recklessly submitted on non issues as he said that Twaha’s behavior called for a mental checkup! To Hon. Macho returning a bribe is a mental case. Secondly was this Silwanyi Solomon. Honestly I don’t remember when Hon. Silwanyi man has ever spoken sense for all the time I have seen him speak in Parliament or in its corridors.

As always he [Silwanyi] stood up and had this to say in his lack of wisdom. He asked that of all the problems Lwengo District has where Twaha comes from why would he pick such money and bring it Parliament rather than solve his constituency problems? Still I found his submissions wanting and based on non issues. Twaha’s issue was about the speaker’s bribe and hence a reason he returned the said bribe and in any case its not the responsibility of an MP’s responsibility to solve the country’s problem. May be to remind this ill reasoning Silwanyi, the cardinal role of an MP is legislation but because the house is full of self seekers like Silwanyi that’s why they robe us and buy ambulance 🚑 which responsibility is for the government under a health ministry.

In my analysis therefore speaker Anita Among didn’t have any moral authority to refer this matter to the disciplinary committee given the fact that Twaha had pinned her for giving him the said bribe! This matter was not an internal matter but rather a national matter that would be managed by both the inspector General of Government and Criminal Investigations department (CID). If was in charge of CID I would begin by recording a statement by Hon. Twaha Kagabo to establish brief facts.

According to Twaha he picked the money from Anita’s home in Nakasero just opposite the high court civil Division, therefore there must be a mode of communication used used by Anita Among or her agents to invite him to her home to pick the said money. Can’t got police go ahead to establish the dates when the said communication took place and use the state tracking system to prove him right or otherwise? Upon gathering this evidence through phone records between Kagabo’s phone and Anita or her agents, police would now compel the Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Among to avail to them her camera recordings of her gate and inside the house of the said date and day in order to collaborate the scanty evidence by Twaha. In the event that Anita fails to avail to the CID with the footage this would mean that she deleted the footage probably to escape from justice. But this wouldn’t save her either; CID would still get that footage from the neighborhood residences to ascertain whether Twaha’s vehicles ever came around Anita and subsequently I would put Anita Among on defense basing on circumstantial evidence. But should Kagabo’s info contradict then the law would definitely take its course for defaming Anita Among.

We need to learn from developed countries like America. Can you imagine that FBI investigated President Bill Clinton over Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, FBI investigated President Richard Nixon over the 1972 Watergate scandal and he subsequently resigned on 9th.Aug.1974 and so is Ronald Trump who is being investigated by FBI but all this works in a country that has built un biased and functional institutions whose aim is to serve the country first rather than individuals.

To be continued in my up coming book “Mr. President sorry I am not sorry” in a chapter ” The Anita I know: A suspect turns into the jury”.

Isma Olaxess Pinned over Hostile Comments on November Murder Victims

0
Isma Olaxess

Renowned NRM leaning blogger Olaxess Isma who was recently anointed the ‘president’ of bloggers is in the spotlight after clips of him making reckless statements glorifying the murder of civilians in the deadly November 2020 clashes have emerged on social media. The video resurges at a time when the NRM government claims to be holding opposition blogger Kajjubi Fred Lumbuye who they claim has been using online platforms to attack government officials and members of the first family.

Olaxess a blogger who returned to Uganda from Sweden to settle for a contract with the NRM government is well known for his insensitivity and lack of intellect in his analyses on Facebook and government owned media stations like Urban TV. In the aftermath of last year’s free Bobi protests, Olaxess excitedly commended the soldiers who clamped down on protesters during the November protests triggered by the arrest of then presidential hopeful Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine.

The clashes ended with the murder of over 54 people. In Olaxess Isma’s view the number was even less and that more Ugandans had to ‘die’ for the government to remain in power. He spoke with impunity and appreciated the army for meting out terror on citizens he claimed were against the regime.

“We shall spill blood blood. We are going to resist even if it means spilling blood we shall spill it. Bobi Wine can’t scare us. We have the guns we shall kill his supporters till they abandon their plan to topple the government,” Olaxess ranted in the video. “You an agent of imperialism. We are the National Resistance Movement and we shall not be scared of you. We shall thump you Bobi and you return to your home blind,” he warned.

He added that Bobi should be maimed and the NRM sees what the international community shall do. “Let him be taken to Nalufenya and we see what BBC will do. We want you to be released when you are handicapped so that your family can learn some lessons,” he added in the leaked video.

The same blogger is reportedly an agent of Kampala central MP Muhammad Nsereko who deploys him to attack the person of Bobi Wine.

Centenary Bank Moves to Seize Jomayi Home at Old Kampala

0
Centinary Bank Uganda

As distress continues to trouble the real estate business, one of the key industry player Jomayi Property Consultants is facing the bad prospect of losing its multi-million home at Old Kampala to the Centenary Bank, this website can reveal.

The bank has appointed auctioneers already to attach the storied building sitting at the Old Kampala hill. The auctioneers are Property& Assets recovery Trust (PART) trading at Plot 42 African House in Kampala.

But that’s where Jomayi’s problems with the bank begin and end. Centenary has also put the property brokering company on notice of its intention to sell off its two estates in Kashari Mbarara, a stretch of land at Nalumunye, Seguku off Entebbe road and an estate in Buligobe, Mukono.

Working on the instructions of the bank’s lawyers of Kampala Associated Advocates, the principal director of PART, Robert Mugabe has since written to Jomayi communicating his instructions to seize and sell its home to the highest bidder.

We managed to access as well as read the said letter. The strongly worded letter is dated April 5, 2016.

Centenary Bank is auctioning the property to recover a total of 1,298,523,892 that remains unpaid from a total of Ushs2.4Bn loan it extended to Jomayi in July 2013.

Giving a chronology of Jomayi’s failures to beat set deadlines to pay the money, the letter points out how the brokerage company was served the default way back on February 3, 2015.

According to the letter, Jomayi was given a grace period of 45 days to pay the money with an ambiguous warning that failure to do so would leave the bank with no alternative but to sell the collateral pledged during the time of securing the financing.

“In another letter of April 8, 2015 Jomayi was informed of our client’s intention to sell the mortgaged properties. Despite several reminders, Jomayi has ignored, refused and or neglected to fulfill its contractual obligations to repay the loan thereby occasioning our clients continuous loss,” the letter read.

It points out that the loan due had reached a total of 1,298,523,892 and was continuing to swell thanks to accruing interest and penalties.

Meanwhile, we understand that Jomayi has taken up the matter with the commercial court seeking to save its home and estates from auction.

Jomayi’s application is undergoing trial before Justice Chris Madrama, we have established.

JEEMA President Basalirwa Defends Opposition Unity

0
Asuman Basalirwa

“It was a mere joint statement not a political coalition,” Basalirwa speaks about the Hotel Africana opposition meeting.

JEEMA President Hon Asuman Basalirwa has come out to clear the air about what exactly transpired at Hotel Africana when the opposition ‘Galacticos’ met , penned and released a joint statement on the status of elections in Uganda.

Appearing on one of the top political shows in the country, Basalirwa med it clear that what transpired at Africana was the usual joint statement presser but there was nothing to do with forging a coalition aimed at ousting Gen Museveni out of power.

Basalirwa added that his party have not been informed or called for any meeting by the opposition counterparts to sign any agreement making them part of any coalition.

He further added that coalitions in Uganda have in the past failed to yield the expected results and thus as JEEMA , they are reluctant to enter in to such agreements.

He however made it clear that JEEMA is willing to work with any opposition political party or pressure group on agreed upon terms but not to surrender their sovereignty to any one.

Being a senior politician and legal officer, Basalirwa’s words paint a carbon copy as to how far the opposition may be far from uniting to form a joint force that can try to oust Gen Museveni out of power.

Lukwago Narrates What Transpired at the NBS Frontline Show

0

Hon.Erias Lukwago’s account of events that transpired at the Frontline Show !

Last night, I happened to be a Panelist at the NBS TV Talkshow that runs from 10:00pm to midnight. The debate was about the sham Soroti East Member of Parliament By-election. Midway the debate, hell broke loose when the Government Spokesperson, who is a regular Panelist (Frontliner) on the show, ran berserk and started throwing tantrums. Out of the blue, he sprung up, charged at me and threatened to evict me from the studios. He pushed his hand into the pocket and around his waist, in a manner that suggested he wanted to draw a pistol at me.
I dared him to shoot at me. He instead pounced on my neck and attempted to strangle me. I did not fight back but instead struggled to wriggle out of his grip. He them punched me in the chest and grabbed both collars of my jacket while huffing and puffing like a cobra. The Moderator, Charles Mwangushya moved in to restrain him but to no avail. He was joined by a Co-Panelist, the Hon. Winnie Kiiza, former Leader of Opposition but the now wild Opondo would not relent as he continued to maul me, while battering and kicking me in the stomach.
Being civilized and mindful of the law of unintended consequences, which could turn out to be catastrophic, I chose not to engage in a fist fight. I instead concentrated on shielding my face with both palms. It was at this moment that another Panelist, the Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister for ICT and National Guidance, who had all along been witnessing the melodrama, joined the duo to prevail over a rampaging Opondo.
The Talkshow ended prematurely and Opondo was shouting at the top of his voice that he was going to finish me off in the corridors of NBS TV or outside the building. He made frantic calls to people I did not understand, requesting for “reinforcement.”
The DPC, Kira Road Police Station, Ssebuyungo, together with the Commander Operations, Aden Muzawula, entered appearance with several police personnel. They made arrangements with Hon. Baryomunsi to escort me back home.
Today morning, I went to Kira Road Police Station and opened up a Criminal Case before the O.C C.I.D and other Police Officers. I also moved to NBS and met with the Management to secure the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of the said ugly scene but my efforts are yet to yield positive results. In my language, we have an old adage that; “Olaba nkaabira mubikire, naye ate ankutukidde mungalo…!!!”
I will stop at nothing in search for Justice. In addition to the aforesaid criminal proceedings, civil action will also be pursued in Courts of Law in an effort to deal with impunity in our country
