Uganda Road Requirements For Vehicles and Drivers

0

By East African standards, Uganda major roads are generally in good condition. Surfaced roads radiate out from Kampala, running east to Jinja, Busia, Mbarara Tororo, Mbale and Soroti, south to Entebbe, southwest to Masaka, northwest to Gayaza and Kayunga (and on Jinja). As a rule, however, Uganda, un surfaced roads tend to be very variable from one season to the next, with conditions likely to be most tricky during the rains and least so towards the end of the dry season. Even in this generalization, an isolated downpour can do major damage to a road that was in perfectly good condition a day earlier, while the arrival of a grader can transform a potholed 4×4 track into a road navigable by any salon car.

Driving in Uganda is interesting, a bit more challenging than other East Africa and Southern Africa countries. You definitely need to be a defensive driver. During yourself drive, just drive defensively when buses and minibus-taxis are around as their drivers are crazy. These are now the main hazard on Ugandan roads aside from unexpected potholes. Minibus-taxi drivers in particular have long been given to overtaking on blind corners, and speed limits are universally ignored except when enforced by road conditions.

As a big threat as minibus-taxis these days are the spanking new coaches that bully their way along trunk routes at up to 120km/h. You will be overtaken by big buses carrying over 70 passengers traveling at excessive speeds, oncoming traffic appears to be heading straight at you. People pass in curves, on a hillside and each day one reads of accidents that result in loss of lives and sometimes in great numbers. Keep an eye in the rear-view (driving) mirror and if necessary pull of the road in advance to let the closing loony past. Other than them you won’t see much traffic outside of Kampala, except on the road to Jinja and the Kenyan border.

The best thing however is to hire a car and a driver, and not just any but a well maintained vehicle and a safe driver that follows the rules.  Not easy to find either one of those. We hire only the best driver guides who have been to almost every corner of East Africa and know the twists and turns of every safari destination, – and feel a concern for the well being of our client. Driving at night can drive you mad and you should avoid the habit of driving without lights. Most Ugandans have this habit of driving without lights. To be more perfect, hire a vehicle and a driver and enjoy your road trip in Uganda and East Africa as a whole.

You will meet lots of very friendly and helpful people. If you are unfortunate enough to have a puncture remember to get out of the way of the rush of local people wanting to help change the wheel for you. Drivers in Uganda are very aggressive and keep you on the edge of your seat. Though I’ve mainly been around Kampala, so of course driving in the city is much more intense than in the rural areas. If you do plan to drive definitely have someone go with you for the first few drives, as driving on the left side, and amidst tons of minibus taxi’s and motor scooters is crazy. Overall the people are welcoming and helpful if you do happen to need help.

If you hire a decent car you probably won’t have any breakdown problems, fuel is available all around the country and there might be an occasional roadblock at Owen Falls Dam, Jinja, and a customs one on the way to the southwest. No one will try and solicit a bribe from you, unlike some other countries. Fuel is expensive in Uganda – the equivalent of around US$1.4 per litre for petrol and slightly less for diesel. If you are arriving overland its worth stocking up before you enter the country.

Just an hour drive from Entebbe International airport, the city will give you a great impression. The city can be toured on foot (Walking tours) or Boda-Boda (Motorcycle tours). It offers a multitude of historical and cultural attractions for a visitor to explore and they include Bulange Mengo parliament also known as the “New Scottish parliament” because it was built in the same design as the Scottish parliament, Kasubi Royal tombs, Uganda national museum, Bahai temple which is the only one in Africa, Gaddafi national mosque that will give you 360 degree view of the city in its tower, among others, all at incredibly low prices.

Jinja doubles as the second largest town and busiest commercial and industrial centre in the country after the capital (Kampala). Lying 87km from Kampala in the South Eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Victoria. The town is also a home to the source of the world’s longest river (River Nile). Its proximity to the shores of the lake (Victoria) and the source of River Nile got it ranked the adventure capital of East Africa.

Get thrown and soaked in the hardcore rapids of the  wild and stunning waters of the Nile and enjoy cruising , rafting and stories about the Nile and the town all under the African sun rays being reflected on the Nile. Nowhere in Uganda, that you will get such an experience.

Lake Mburo National Park

Driving to the park is no problem, because you will drive on smooth tarmac to the first gate of the park (Sanga gate). Lake Mburo National park is the nearest park to the capital city. The park is about 3-4 hours drive from Kampala. The savanna park contains an extensive wetland area and harbors variety of species both mammals like the Elands, impalas, Burchells Zebras, buffaloes, hippos and bird species (313 species).

Murchison Falls National park

Visit one of Uganda’s top-notch national parks.  Murchison falls national park is a safari jewel in Uganda due to its different game views as well as the stunning Murchison falls from which the park’s name was derived. The park shelters a number of wildlife animals like four of the big five, which include Leopards, buffaloes, elephants and lions, which are among the 76 mammal species that are found in the park.

The park used to have rhinos but in 1983 they were no more due to poaching and guerrilla wars that rocked Uganda in the late 1970’s as well as the early 1980’s; however they were later introduced and can be tracked in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary that is just meters off the route to Murchison falls national park.

A trip to Murchison falls national park will not be a disappointment. Winston Churchill described the Murchison plains as Kew Garden and the zoo on unlimited scale and once you visit it you will be bound to agree.

Most visitors come not only to enjoy Fort portal but also varied sights that surround it. Like, Kibale national park that is famous for primates mostly Chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth national park and the town is a perfect get way to the remote Semuliki National park.

Ssese Islands

The islands are a compilation of eighty four islands which are situated in the north western part of Lake Victoria in Uganda. These islands form an L shape and they also vary in size comparing the square kilometers covered by each island in Ssese.

Bugala Island is the largest, covering an area of over 40 kilometers in length. However, there are other small islands such as Bulago, Bukasa, Banda, Bubeke and Bufumira islands. Most of the times, people travel to Bugala Island using ferries which work on specific days and hours, therefore to enjoy the cheapest travel services in Uganda the islands are recommended.

Things that can be done during your stay in the islands include: during the weekend nights there are party scenes along Kalangala bay that are performed to meet the travelers needs and also get them activated, enjoying the pounding water that hits the lake shores on the beach as well as overnight trips to the different regions of the islands. However due to the island’s biodiversity, visitors can also get an opportunity to spot some wild rare animals like the vervet monkeys, occasional large snakes and vast bird species around.

The lake is situated in south western Uganda and it is the second deepest lake in Africa known as the place of many little birds. Ngamba Chimp Island

Ngamba Island is located on Lake Victoria and a home to about 49 orphaned chimpanzees from all around East Africa. The sanctuary was established in 1997 to act as a home to these orphaned chimps and also to live out their lives due to impossibilities of returning them to their natural habitats as well as sensitizing both the travelers and local people about the importance of conserving the forest habitats of these highly rare and endangered species.

The place is very cheap depending on the activities done within a particular day especially viewing of the chimps as they’re being fed in the morning, swimming, bird watching, wildlife encounters, fishing and as well as relaxing and sun bathing by the shores of Lake Victoria. This makes the sanctuary one of the best cheap places to travel to in Uganda.

Entebbe

This is a town located on a peninsular of Lake Victoria in central Uganda. Just a few kilometers away from Uganda’s main airport, making it a first prior as a cheap place to travel to. The numerous beaches around call for so many tourist activities like swimming, sun bathing, horse riding, beach games, scenic viewing as well as nature walks around the place. Kizza Besigye’s son, Anselm, Pictured Feeling White Girl’s boobs

0

Former FDC president Kizza Besigye’s son, Anselm Besigye is having the time of his life at Harvard University in United Kingdom. He has proved critics that he is a no joke as long as the ‘ladies’ matters are concerned, he is a ladies man.

Forget the earlier photos where he was snapped puffing off a smoke at a graduation party, he now goes bare knuckles in the literal meaning of the word. Flesh to flesh. Skin to skin. In a recent photo of him that has then become a debating matter on social media, he is seen enjoying the warmth of a bare breast of a white woman at a beach! Damn, that is no playing games!!

In the photo, the dread-locked Anselm is seen grabbing and feeling the boob of a white girl with his other female friend holding the other.

Sources revealed that the topless white girl seems to be Anselm’s campus mate.

Anselm is currently on a scholarship at the prestigious Harvard University no wonder he is enjoying himself like no tomorrow.

Singer Moses Ssali popularly known as Bebe Cool has decided to end his social media interactions with his fellow singer Alexader Bagonza alias A Pass. He has blocked him on Twitter.

The two have not been on good terms for a while and their beef got onto a higher level recently when Bebe Cool publicly came out to say defend the newly introduced social media taxes (the famed OTT Tax) by the government before referring to musicians that were against it as ‘cockroaches’.

Police detains a 12-year-old boy over sodomizing five Class mates

0

Police in Kenya is holding a 12-year-old boy in custody over allegations of sodomizing fellow five classmates aged 9 and 10 years.

According to our Kenyan sources, this controversial minor was arraigned in a Nanyuki court last week, where he appeared before resident Magistrate identified as Damacline Bosibori on allegations that on diverse dates between June 16 and July 23 this year at Ruai village in Laikipia County, he sodomized five standard three boys.

The accused was preying on the minors while they were playing in the field at lunch hour. The boy used to get hold of the minors while playing in the field and dragged them to a nearby bush, where he threatened to gorge out their eyes or kill them if they failed to either cooperate before sodomizing them or attempt to report.

His forty days run out dramatically after one of the boys reported to the teacher who later reported to Nanyuki Police Station, leading to his arrest.

However, the accused denied the allegations before the court directed he be taken to a Hospital for age assessment alongside being assigned an advocate by the Pro Bono committee before he is produced in court for the next hearing.

Fans were thrilled with remarkable performances from different entertainers but Winnie Nwagi’s turned out to be never to forget by the male fans that graced the celebrations.

The heavy bottomed singer left her fans gazing with wide eyes after parading her gigantic assets live on stage that left many pocketing.

As Winnie Nwagi was on stage dancing, her fans were busy taking snaps of her from the booty, thighs to the upside of her before sharing them with friends who had missed the fateful event.

Horny men were held on rampage of scrotal eruptions as some were heard telling friends on how they would bet their lives just to have a minute in private with the curvaceous mother of one.

The singer also posted a video and a few photos of her performing but of the picture caused mixed reactions on her Instagram page from the fans that might have forced her to later on deleted it. The photo was showing the whole of her back, showing all her butt cheeks and leaving nothing to imagination.
