The embattled Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Muhammed Ssegirinya was virtually arraigned in court today for his hearing on charges of inciting violence in the city. The MP who has spent two weeks in Kitalya Government Prison was forced to go back after his lawyers came unprepared for the Hearing of his case.

Since his last court appearance in March, the prosecution announced that investigations into the case had been completed before he was remanded for his trial and bail application. However, the trial could not proceed on Thursday after Ssegirinya’s lawyers came ready for his bail application instead of the hearing of his case.

Ssegirinya aka Mr.Updates was further remanded until the 15th April 2021 in order to allow his lawyers to update themselves for hearing of the case. The prosecution alleges that on 22nd March 2021, Hon. Ssegirinya and others performed acts to incite violence at Mini Price Supermarket, Kampala District. The MP has since denied these charges and applied for bail although to no avail.
