Uganda Wins Gold And Silver At CANA Championships

Uganda won gold and silver medals on the opening day of the ongoing CANA ZONE III and IV swimming championships at Kampala Parents School

Kimberly Hind finished first in the Girls 14 and under 800 Freestyle clocking 9.42.30 seconds to win Uganda’s first gold medal. Hind earned 20 points for her efforts.

Nuwa Senkebe Serunjogi, won Silver for the hosts in the Boys 14 and Under Freestyle in a time of 10.19.20. Kenya’s Matteo Rosafio who clocked 9.33.20 won gold while his compatriot Kabir Bedi won bronze.

Other Ugandan medal winners include Rebecca Ssengonzi a silver medalist with a time of 36.80 in the girls 13-14 50 meter breaststroke and Tendo Mukalazi who won a medalfor his efforts in the Boys 12 and under in the 50 meter breaststroke in a time of 39.40.

The four day swimming championship is sponsored by the Nabagereka Development Foundation, Mulwana Group of Companies, Kampala Parents’School, Gems Cambridge International School Uganda, Umeme, Centenary Bank, Coca Cola, Midland Group GOtv and Sir Apollo Kagwa Schools.

Ten countries are participating in the CANA Zone III and IV swimming championships that Uganda is hosting for the first time.
