Speaker Emeritus of 9th and 10th Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has paid tribute to her successor, Jacob Oulanyah who died on Sunday in US Seattle.
“At this trying moment, I send sincere condolences to the children, the mother and other members of Rt Hon Oulanyah s family as well as friends and relatives The NRM party,” she wrote on Twitter
Kadaga went on to describe Oulanyah as a key leader, “The Parliament and the Country have lost a key leader.”
Several other leaders have mourned the now fallen Speaker, writing glowing tributes dedicated to him.
“What a loss! What affliction has our country got! God take this pain away from our country. Rest in Peace without paid,” Health Minister Diana Atwine said.
Makerere Vice-Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe said, “May his soul rest in peace. Rt. Hon. @JacobOulanyah is one of the most outstanding alumni of Makerere & his contribution to the university right from his days as a student when he served in various leadership roles including being Speaker of the Students Guild will be remembered.”
