Mulwana, Industrialist, and Philanthropist, Dies at 76

NewsMulwana, Industrialist, and Philanthropist, Dies at 76

As people in Kampala were getting to terms with the death of a businessman Juvenal Nsenga who was accidentally knocked by his wife last Friday, another powerful businessman has died.

According to family members, Industrialist James Mulwana passed on this morning at Nakasero hospital following abdominal complications.

James founded very successful companies that included Nice House of Plastics, Jesa Mixed Farm and Uganda Batteries Ltd among others. He also revived operations at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) an association for manufacturers across East Africa.

If you haven’t used tooth brushes made by his company, then you must have used cups or plates made by Nice House of Plastics. Chances are the pen you are using to write is made by the same company.

Short of that, your car uses a battery made by Uganda Batteries Ltd, one of his many companies or your kids have demanded for that flavoured JESA yoghurt and the list goes on not forgetting the number of employees under his business empire.

A post-mortem is being carried out at Case Clinic on Buganda road in Kampala. Dr. Mulwana (76) was the Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank at the time of his death.

The father-of-three will be buried tomorrow at 1:00pm in Busunju-Mubende District along Kampala Hoima road. The country is mourning the passing of a philanthropist.
