NewsMan Held for Impersonating as State House Anti-Corruption Unit staff

A man suspected of disguising as a State House Anti-Corruption Unit staff has been arrested in Wakiso.

The suspect only identified as Isma is alleged to have been conducting land fraud in Wakiso between criminal land grabbers and the Ministerial zonal office staff.

Wakiso residents who were attending a land meeting with the State Minister for Lands, Sam Mayanja on Wednesday said that Isma extorts money from them.

“He has Masterminded many evictions, masquerading as an employee of Col.Edith Nakalema,” one resident said.

The suspect had attempted to take off but police officers surrounded him and he was overpowered.

Upon interrogation, the suspect said, ” I worked for people who have refused to pay me and I am being framed.”

The Wakiso Resident District Commissioner, Justine Mbabazi revealed they have verified with the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that this man is not a member of their staff.

“He will tell us where he comes from and those he has been collaborating with,” she added.

Wakiso has for long been reported to have many brokers who extort money from people on behalf of the staff of Wakiso lands office.

This forced the Minister to temporarily close the office until next week.
