I’m Ready to Work With Anita Among, Says Basalirwa as He Concedes Defeat

Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Asuman Basalirwa who is also the president of JEEMA, a political party has on Friday conceded defeat to Hon Anita Among with whom she was contesting with in the race to become Speaker of Parliament.

Asuman took the microphone after the announcement that he had been defeated, saying that he was accepting the outcome of the elections at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

“I want to thank everyone who voted for me and bestowed onto me the title of shadow Speaker of Parliament. The exercise was free, fair and transparent unlike many other elections in the country.”

Anita got 401 votes while Basalirwa got 66.

Basalirwa promised to work with Among for the better of the country.
