Woman Member of Parliament for Bukedea District Hon Anita Among is the new Speaker of Parliament replacing Jacob Oulanyah who died days ago after battling illness.
Among beat opposition’s Asuman Basalirwa with 401 votes, and the latter got 66 votes.
Among immediately resigned as Deputy Speaker and was declared Speaker of Parliament.
Anita Annet Among was in the FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she has earned favor to rise through several ranks until today when she was voted Speaker.
