Ssemujju Given 24 Hrs to Withdraw Hate Speech Against Tubonga Naawe Artists

Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda

A little known organization calling themselves ‘freedom activists’ have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the spokesperson of FDC Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda to withdraw the hate campaign against artists who composed President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign song of Tubonga Nawe.

The organization is Opportunity Uganda. Babu Ssali, the spokesperson of the group told a press conference that the Tubonga Nawe composers did nothing wrong to deserve being boycotted by Ugandans.

“They were doing their ordinary work of singing in order to earn from their talent. It is wrong for anyone to incite people to boycott their concerts for singing for Museveni,” Babu says.

Babu did not disclose, however, what further steps his organization will take should Ssemujju reject their demands.

Contacted for a comment, Ssemujju first laughed his heart out on being told of the ultimatum from Opportunity Uganda.

“Who are those people anyway? I am too busy doing important work to respond to every trash by people who do not matter,” Ssemujju said dismissively.

Ssemujju launched the controversial hate campaign against Chameleon, Bebe Cool, Juliana Kanyomozi, IrynNamubiru, Cathy Kusaasira, Ronald Mayinja, HarunaMubiru, among others, for composing the song in question and for going on to entertain Ugandans during Museveni’s rallies.

Ssemujju said Ugandans should not turn up at concerts organized by the affected artists, boycott taxis and entertainment spots and FM radios running their music as well as snubbing public events such as weddings, introductions and baptism celebrations at which music for the artists is played.

Ssemujju widened the boycott to target everyone who allegedly helped Museveni to ‘steal’ the presidential victory of the FDC candidate Dr Kizza Besigye in the February 18 polls.

Sections of Ugandans have since come out to slam Ssemujju over the hate campaign, but the Kira Municipality MP elect has stood his ground saying that “election thieves and their accomplices must be taught a lesson.”

Neglecting the Elderly is Hell – Pope Francis Warns Youths

The Elderly African

Children who fail to visit their frail elderly parents for months at time will go to Hell. Pope Francis said on Wednesday. He condemned a family who neglected to visit an old lady in a care home between Christmas and August and declared “Eight months without a visit from her children. This is a mortal sin.

A mortal sin, in Roman Catholic teaching is one so great that it rots the soul and will condemn the sinner to Hell unless he or she repents. Pope Francis’ warning to the young not to neglect the elderly was delivered in a general audience before 20,000 people in St Peters ‘s Square.

It followed the call last week from Catholic bishop in England and Wales for voters to support elections candidates who value ‘the frail elderly person needing care and facing the frontier of death”

Pope Francis said it was a deadly in to discard the elderly and that those who do so will suffer the same fate themselves. ‘It is sickening to see the elderly discarded.it is ugly. It is a sin, ‘he said ‘Abandoning the elderly is a mortal sin.

‘Children who do not visit their elderly and ill parents have mortally sinned Understand?’ The pope message was addressed to a worldwide audience reaching beyond the Catholic faith. In his remarks he linked respect for the elderly with the need to oppose political campaigns in the western world for the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide.

A similar link was made by the England and Wales bishop in their letter to voters last week.

The Pope said societies that mistreat older people are infected with a ‘virus of death ‘and put their own future in jeopardy ‘where there is no honor for the elderly there is no future for young people; he said

Reflecting how medical advances had extended life expectancy and led to an increase in the elderly population, he said our societies are not organized enough to make room for them with proper respect and concrete consideration for their fragility and dignity

As long as we are young, we are led to ignore old age as if it were a disease, a disease to be kept at a distance. then when we become elder, especially if we are poor, if we are sick, if we are alone, we experience the short comings of a society programed for efficiency which consequently ignores the elderly and older people are an asset, we cannot ignore them.

It is sickening to see the elderly discarded, it is ugly, it is a sin abandoning the elderly is a mortal sin, he said a profit -obsessed society thinks that elderly do not produce any thing and therefore are burden. The Pope added; What is the result of this way of thinking? They are discarded.

We have become used to discarding people. Out of our fear of weakness and vulnerability, we do not tolerate and we abandon the elderly” he told a story of how when Archbishop of Buenos Aires he visited a care home and spoke to elderly residents.

He asked one woman if she was visited by her children and was told, Oh yes always. ‘Francis asked when was the last time her children came and was told; At Christmas’ the pope said it was August.

The elderly are men and women, fathers and mothers who walked before us on our own streets in our own home in our daily struggle for a decent life. they are men and women from whom we have received a lot he said.

“The elderly are not alien. The elderly are us, soon. It is not far off inevitably. if we do not treat the elderly well, we will not be treated well either.

Bobi Wine Hits Back At Gay Sympathizers: I am Not Intimidated By Threats

Bobi Wine Kyagulanyi

“I hope that the proponents of Homosexuality that pride themselves in their liberalism and support for human rights, will allow me my right of expression much as they may not be comfortable with my opinion,” reads part of singer Bobi Wine’s statement.

In a statement, which many believe is a reaction about him being denied a visa to perform in the UK, Bobi Wine requests gays and their sympathisers to respect Uganda’s sovereignty status.

“Uganda is a democratic country and I do not make the laws. However, It’s my duty as a Law abiding citizen to adhere to the laws as required by the constitution. A few months ago, the president of Uganda after extensive research and consultation, assented to the anti-homosexuality act and 99% of Ugandans were in support.”
The self styled Ghetto president adds that the sympathisers have misinterpreted the law to mean that Uganda wants to kill homosexuals yet the biggest punishment for the offenders (aggravated homosexuality with a minor where the offender is HIV positive) is life imprisonment and not death.

He further says that the intension of the Act is to stop promotion and exhibition of homosexual practices so as to create standard behaviour for all Ugandans.

“I am personally not out to threaten the life of anyone based on their sexual Orientation. I just DO NOT agree with them. This is my opinion and happens to be that of 99% Ugandans/Africans basing on our culture, religion and constitution.”

“Freedom should not compromise intergenerational equity and human rights should not be an excuse for acts that are counter societal progress.I completely fail to understand the pride and why the gays are so happy about it. If my opinion makes me third world, then am happy to be.”

Bobi Wine goes on to applaud the president for having assented to the law, saying that what the president did was right because it not fair when one tries to “arm-twist” society to legalise bad habits for the sake of aid. “We just can’t compromise our Values and Dignity.”

His statement comes on the foot heels of reports that the singer was denied a visa to perform in the UK, where he was to perform this month.

Since the signing of the bill into law by the president, a number of government officials were June barred from entering the US territories, justifying the action by claiming to be countering violation of human rights.

The US also cancelled a military exercise with the country and cut funds to a number of joint programs.

President Yoweri Museveni February signed the bill that calls for homosexuals to be imprisoned for life. It outlaws the promotion of homosexuality and obligates people to report gays to authorities.

Skin Lightening Products

The Government plans to put a ban on all dangerous chemicals and skin lightening chemicals entering the Ugandan market.

This follows the cabinet’s approval of the transformation of National Drug Authority to National Food and Drug Authority.

The new authority will block all dangerous chemicals, lotions and creams from entering Uganda.

Speaking before the cabinet on Thursday, the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Hon Rose Namayanja said some of these chemicals include mercury and hydroquinone that are in many lotions and creams.

These chemicals put many women at the risk of getting skin cancers, diabetes, hypertension among other diseases.

Cabinet has directed the Ministry of Health to urgently commence the process of drafting amendments to the National Drug Policy and Authority Act, 1993, to pave way for creation of the NFDA.

When the Bill gets to Parliament, Cabinet will also appeal for bi-partisan support due the urgency to protect enhance protection of our citizens.

Ebola Virus Kills Ugandan Doctor in Liberia

Dr. Samuel Muhumuza

A Ugandan doctor serving in Liberia has been killed by Ebola. Dr Samuel Muhumuza Mutooro passed away on Tuesday afternoon at St F. Kennedy Medical Center Cholera Unit were he was being treated.

Dr. Muhumuza was surgical doctor assigned at the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town where he had been working for three years.

Health workers in Liberia are at risk for the deadly virus and many have expressed fear that they might come in direct contact with an Ebola patient without even realizing it.

Dr Muhumuza is the fourth death among health workers to die from Ebola. A physician assistant from the Tandapolie clinic in Caldwell was recently confirmed dead from the disease.

Mr. Tolbert Nyenswah, Assistant Minister for Curative Services at the ministry of health has called on health workers across the country to take universal precaution to protect them against the disease.

“We call it the barrier netting methods; that is, you must wear gloves during examination of a patient, even if they were not Ebola,” he told FrontPageAfrica.

“What we call infection control in health facilities should be adhered to. So we are calling on health workers across the country, including private and public facilities; clinics and everywhere, to ensure at the highest standard and level to protect themselves.”

There have been 759 confirmed or suspected cases of the haemorrhagic fever in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Tuesday, with 467 people dead.

“This makes the ongoing Ebola outbreak the largest in terms of the number of cases and deaths as well as geographical spread,” the WHO said in a statement announcing a two-day conference in Ghana to be attended by 11 West African health ministers.

“Decisions taken at this meeting will be critical in addressing the current and future outbreaks,” it said.

Dr Muhumuza was buried in Liberia on Wednesday.

Since West Africa’s first ever epidemic of the deadly and highly contagious fever broke out in Guinea in January, the WHO has sent in more than 150 experts to help tackle the regional crisis.

Despite the efforts of the UN agency and other health workers, there has been a “significant increase” in the rate of new cases and deaths in recent weeks, the WHO said.

Telexfree Suspect Muramuzi Back To Clubbing After Release From Jail

Telex Free Boss Muramuzi

Telexfree fraud suspect Ronald Muramuzi Saturday made his first appearance in Club Rouge since his release from jail a few weeks ago.

Clad in a pink short-sleeved shirt, a pair of Khaki trousers and white sneakers, Muramuzi appeared in Rouge at 2am.

He was in company of three ladies and two other gents.

The six opted for the ordinary section than the plushy VIP, where the ‘big spenders’ were, leaving those that recorgnised him in amusement.

Drinks steadily flowed in but they were not the ones you would expect from a millionaire, or a person who has been owning the same Club until of late when he sold it. His calmness too, made one hardly believe he is the man facing fraud charges amounting to over Shs2billion shillings. He looked very innocent!

Not even his simplistic dress code could reflect the multimillion properties that he owns with the city.

Muramuzi spent most of the time standing as he enjoyed his beer and only got to dance after Klear Kut, who had a performance that night took to the stage.

This perhaps gave him enough privacy to exhibit his other skill since the largest part of the audience had moved away, to the VIP where performances were taking place.

His dances were however always interrupted by handshakes and hugs from men, mostly with bulging stomachs who came to him up on recorganising him and this went on until when he left the club shortly after 3am.

Muramuza was freed two weeks back on Sh300m non cash bond , depositing his passport, a land title and three sureties; making him gain partial freedom after spending over a month behind the bars.

Muramuzi is facing two counts of obtaining Shs500 million from one John Bosco Muhiirwe, the director of Mixed Links, purporting to take youth for jobs abroad.

Muramuzi’s woes began early May after when he was arrested by police over allegations that through his companies; TESCO FREE, Addfast Inc, Telex free, Bank Electro, United Hype League and Massive Ads .Com that he had opened under different names had fleeced money from over 600 people amounting to over Shs4 Billion.

Court Orders Cindy to Hand Over Daughter to Ex-Boyfriend

Cindy Ssanyu and Boyfriend

Nakawa Grade two magistrate, Rose Jolly Onyang Thursday ordered self styled dancehall queen, Cindy to hand over their child to former boyfriend Mario Brunetti.

The ruling came after Brunetti managed to convince court to win custody of the child.

Brunneti told court that Cindy has been booked for concerts outside Uganda; in neighbouring countries Rwanda and DRC.

He therefore asked for the child to be left with him until when she returns saying that while on her musical tour she will not have time for the child.

However, this was rebuffed by Cindy saying she was to leave the child with her mother. The Amateeka added that she was not willing to leave the child with Brunetti since the kid is already used to being with its granny.

The magistrate granted Brunetti custody of the child but limited it to only the time when Cindy will be performing in DRC.

She further added that upon Cindy’s return from Congo, the child will then be taken to Cindy’s mother for the time she will be in Rwanda.

The ruling followed a case that was filed by Brunetti at Nakawa Magistrates Court asking to be given custody of their child saying Cindy rarely has time for their child since she is performing most of thge time.

Cindy and the Cayenne Bar manager Mario broke up February this year putting an end to their over a decade relationship. The two were blessed by a daughter in 2011 and this turns out to be their only child together.

Whereas nothing is known about Brunetti’s love life currently, Cindy is dating ex-Fiina Mugerwa’s boyfriend, a one Kenneth Muyisa who works in South Africa

Kakoma’s Wife to Sue Government Over National Anthem

Maria Kakoma

The family of the late Prof George Kakoma has threatened to drag the Government of Uganda to court over the national anthem.

This comes after the Government’s plan to give the Uganda National Anthem a new orchestra to help boost the country’s tourism sector globally.

The Minister of Tourism, Maria Mutagamba on Wednesday said they want to design a new anthem so that people know about their country, history and future. She said the anthem will not be changed but only be put in visual.

“We are going to use the same words and tunes, but use artistic impressions to promote the understanding of our anthem,” Mutagamba said.

However, Mrs Maria Tereza Kakoma has today (Thursday) told the media that the family retained the copyright to this song and any changes must be sanctioned by them.

Kakoma was the composer of the National Anthem and when he passed away he left the copyrights to his family.

She has threatened to go to court if the government does not abandon this project.

“Nobody can add anything, not even in music or not in words,” Mrs Tereza said, adding, “If you do change or add anything, you will put yourself in trouble.”

The Government has partnered with Alex Mukulu, a local artiste and playwright to spear head the project of giving the National anthem a new feel which will cost over Shs180 million.

Mukulu yesterday revealed that dress rehearsals have already started and it will be performed in November when Uganda is hosting the African International Tourists Association.

The new national anthem with a full orchestra is expected later this year to promote Uganda as a top tourism destination globally.

The government is yet to respond to the matter.

Court Releases Suspected TelexFree Fraudster Muramuzi On Bail

Telex Free Boss Muramuzi

Buganda Road Court Wednesday granted bail to Telexfree and Adfast fraud suspect, Ronald Muramuzi.

Muramuza was freed after on Sh300m non cash bond after presenting to court depositing his passport, a land title and three sureties.

The sureties included brother Edward Barijje, Richard Karuhanga, a lawyer aged 40 and Chris Katibalirwe 46, a doctor. They were each bonded on sh200m non cash bail each.

Muramuzi is facing two counts of obtaining Shs500 million from one John Bosco Muhiirwe, the director of Mixed Links, purporting to take youth for jobs abroad.

Muramuzi, owner of Club Rouge, Dynasty Newspaper and several buildings in the city center is also charged with three counts of fraudulently obtaining more than Shs 2 billion from online customers.

He denies all of the charges.

Muramuzi’s woes started when he was netted by the police on 10 May this year, the day one of his newly acquired properties, Club Rouge was re-opening after a month closure for renovations.

According to Police, Maramuzi in 2012 started up different online which were to sell memberships that promised weekly returns of 20per cent or more for those who promoted the companies by recruiting new members and placing the companies advertisements on free internet ad sites.

Among the companies that he has been operating include TESCO FREE, Adfast Inc, Telex free, Bank Electro, United Hype League and Massive Ads .Com but all were opened under different names Morgan Mugisha, Bob Mugisha, Muramuzi Ronald Kato and Kato Ronald.

However, of all the above companies, it looks it is Adfanstic. com has greatly contributed to his troubles.

Prosecution alleges that between October 7, 2013, and May 8 this year in Kampala, Mr Muramuzi and others still at large created a website called Adfast. com which he used to trade in money through electronic transfers using his agents and conspirators.

They sold to hundreds of unsuspecting customers and received more than Shs2 billion, well knowing he was committing electronic fraud.

By the time the police arrested him, it is suspected he had fleeced money from over 600 people amounting to overall of Shs 4 Billion from all the companies.

Muramuzi is expected in court again on July 7, for case mention.
