    Andrew Owiny Wins Masters Swimming Event

    The Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) organized a one day masters swimming event at the Gems Cambridge International School in Butabika where several senior swimmers took part including William Blick, Andrew Owiny and Don Rukare.

    Former Uganda Rugby Union president Andrew Owiny won the event after clocking 00.14.78. Uganda Swimming Federation president Don Rukare finished second (00.15.42).

    USF’s vice president Peter Mugisha was third with a time of 00.15.64.

    William Blick, President of the Uganda Olympic Committee made his debut for the one day tournament. Blick participated in the 25 metres freestyle where he finished 7th (00.23.25) out of seventh out of eight swimmers.

    This is the USF’s second Masters swimming event that was sponsored by DSTV and Rwenzori Mineral Water.

    USF will send a team to represent the country at the 15th FINA World Masters Championship from July 27-August 10 in Montreal, Canada.
