U. S Announces UGX 17Bn Reward for Information Leading to Kony Arrest

The U.S. government has announced a cash reward of Ugx17bn for information leading to the arrest of Joseph Kony.

Kony is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army and is wanted for crimes against humanity and war crimes. These crimes include mass killings, torture, and forcing children to become soldiers. Kony committed most of the crimes in Northern Uganda.

The reward was announced by the US Department of State through their “War Crimes Rewards Program.”

“Joseph Kony has been wanted for more than 15 years. You can help bring him to justice and get paid up to $5 million (about shs 17 billion). 100% confidentiality,” the US War Crimes Rewards Program said on Twitter.

It is not the first time U.S is placing a bounty for Kony’s arrest. In 2021, a reward of $5M was announced.
