The National Unity Platform Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya has suspended 5 leaders of the party in Busoga and ordered for immediate investigations into their conduct.
In an unprecedented move that a political party moves to unilaterally suspend such a group of leaders in Busoga, Rubongoya accuses the leaders of indiscipline detrimental to the party’s growth and future.
Those suspended include the self – styled ‘Generals’ Moses Bigirwa,Bamu Lulenzi, Saulo Nsongambi and a one Mukuve among others.
The trouble emanates from long standing misunderstandings at whose climax are accusations that Moses Bigirwa led a team of goons that nearly lynched the mother of Andrew Muwanguzi another party leader.
Pastor Andrew Muwanguzi, the NUP party’s head of ideology is accused of having attempted to beat up some party supporters at their offices in Jinja. Rubongoya has also suspended him.
In recent times, disagreements driven by ego have been brewing within NUP – Busoga ranks with party leaders undermining each other in a war of supremacy. The party’s decision therefore meets applause from its members who were divided between outright punishment or reconciliatory talks.
