Eddy Kenzo’s Sitya Loss Nominated in Jamaican Awards

When Fast raising Ugandan star, Eddy Kenzo did his song Sitya Loss he expected success but perhaps not as much as he has achieved.

From bursting chats on iTunes to taking him places all over the globe, and more is yet to come.

Eddy Kenzo has been nominated in the prestigious Jamaican awards, 33rd International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) scheduled to take place on 4 October in Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA.

He has been nominated in the Best African Song/ Entertainer catagory for his song Sitya Loss.

Eddy Kenzo will have to fight off competition from artists like; Davido (Aye), Awilo Longomba (Bundele), Willy Paul Msafi (Tam Tam), Diamond Platnumz (Mdogo Mdogo) and Bracket (Mama Africa), with whom he has been nominated in the same category.

South Africa based Ugandan singer, MC Norman is the only other Ugandan nominated in the awards. He will tussle it out with Daniel Bambatte Marley (Jamaica), Alkalina (Jamaica), Dabo (Tanzania), Kranium (Jamaica) and Shatta Wale (Ghana) in the Best New Entertainer Category.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Cliff, Sean Paul, Christopher Martins, Tarrus Riley, Luciano, Roman Virgo, Cecile, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Beres Hammond, Beyonce, Mr Vegas, Snoop Dog, Collie Buddz, Busy Signal, Mavado, Bennie Man, Mack Diamond, Bounty Killer, Popcaan and Konshens are among the artists who have been nominated in the awards.

The IRAWMA, established in 1982 acknowledges and honors the accomplishments and contributions of reggae and world music artists, including: songwriters, performers, promoters and musicians.

Produced by Martin’s International & Associates, the IRAWMA has been staged in many major cities including: Atlanta, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, New Orleans, New York as well as both Montego Bay and Ocho Rios Jamaica.

The impetus behind the IRAWMA is its commitment to promoting greater participation and acceptance of Reggae, Caribbean and World Music, Internationally.
