    Gold medalist David Emong for Young achievers Award

    Gold medalist David Emong and Joshua Chetegei sports personalities have been nominated to battle for this year’s young achievers awards.

    The Young Achievers Award an initiative aimed at rewarding innovations and excellent performance as well as inspiring next generation leaders, grand final event will be held on august 18th at Serena Hotel and is fully sponsored by Johnnie walker.

    Cheptegei won a gold medal  in both the 500m and 10,000m races at the 2018 common wealth games in Austria while Emong won a  gold medal  in 1500m race at world Para athletics championship in London.

    Unveiling nominated list of young achievers transforming the economy at a dinner event at Serene hotel Humphrey Nabimanya the team leader called upon government to partner with organisers to sponsor young talents making a difference amidst unemployment.

    “We understand government cannot employ every one however we want government o support innovations by youth making innovations in the social economy of the country to thrive,”Nabimanya said.

    He said through these young enterprises and innovations some youth-led initiatives are employing at least 5 to 10 people.
    Ibrahim Batambuze, Communication Manager for Reach a hand, the event organizer said this year’s edition of Young Achievers Award has attracted many innovative young people forcing judges to hike standard of the award winners.

    “This year’s edition is bigger and better. About 400 youth innovators applied enabling as to hike the standard of judges and awards .We have reduced the number to 45 nominees who will  tussle out for the 9 award slots on 18th August at Serena hotel grand final,” Batambuze said.

    However, Gold medalist David Emong commenting about the event said he was excited learning he was nominated for young achievers award.
    “This means I have done something for the country and this motivates me to keep working hard and inspiring my fellow young generation,”Emong said.
    Other personalites nominated for the grand final include Eddie Kenzo and wife Rema Namakula in performing artiste category, while media category NBSTV Allan Kyeyune will contest with fellow work mate Conary Mugume.

    In agriculture category former Makerere university guild president Bazil Mwotta has been nominated for his farming app.
