    Uganda Confirms 631 Covid-19 Recoveries as Museveni Returns to Address the Nation

    Uganda has confirmed 40+ new patients having recovered from the Covid-19 corona virus disease that has claimed lives of hundreds of thousands across the globe. Today, Uganda has so far registered 631 recoveries that is more than 70% of the 755 total infected cases registered and no corona virus death related case yet.

    This was disclosed today by the Ministry of health through Hon. Jane Aceng while announcing the test results analysed on Sunday, 21st June.

    From these, 4 Ugandans out of 2224 samples returned positive for coronavirus, including 2 truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu border and Kenya via Malaba points of entry. The other 2 are contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases from Amuru and Kyotera districts.

    Museveni to Address the Nation
    Meanwhile, there are currently 256 active cases in admission including143 Ugandans and 113 foreign truck drivers. This comes in as President Yoweri Museveni is set tonight to address the country before the currently extended lockdown ends on June 25.

    Among the key points expected in this address include an update on the opening of educational institutions which went into hibernation when he announced the first measures on 18th March 2020 and opening of the Arcades in major towns of Uganda.
