    Cultural Chiefs Set to Petition Museveni over Ebyaffe

    Kings and cultural chiefs across the country have taken a joint decision to petition President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to remind him about what government promised to give them.

    The forum secretary general Kyaligonza George shortly after addressing the media at their  high level conference in Kampala.

    The development came to light over the weekend during their annual activity review conference that was held at Kolping hotel Makerere in Kawempe division.

    The leaders under their umbrella body of Uganda Kings and cultural leaders forum (IKCLF) were discussing how their respective Institutions have been performing in terms of mobilizing communities to fight poverty through participation in government programs.

    The  forum secretary general Kyaligonza George explained that they are reviewing what was done and would within two weeks time write and submit their demands petition to the President trying to remind him about their pending issues with the state.

    “Our members are saying that the salary of 5m/= per month given to each of them as facilitation was miserably  little of which government need to double and also issue of vehicles to facilitate movement of chiefs and kings should be addressed “ noted Kyaligonza.

    Some of the members however lashed out at  the government for reportedly segregating and undermining them in preference to support their big  brothers saying it was not fair at all because all should be treated equally as their  common agenda was to mobilize their subjects in fighting poverty.

    Others demanded for the outright return of their land, buildings and access  a portion of funds from royalties  within their localities alongside other benefits respectively.

    They however had no kind words for the now embattled state minister for tourism Godfrey Kiwanda of whom they criticized for reportedly trying to use women who are dearly endowed with curvy bodily shapes as a tourism marketing tool saying it was unacceptable to them.

    “We strongly condemn the actions Godfrey Kiwanda who came out to launch some unpopular project of trying to use our girls who are dearly endowed with curvy bodily shapes as a tourism  attraction vehicle because it is against our cultures “ observed the chiefs.
