    Burundian Footballer Papy Faty Dies on Pitch while Playing

    It’s sad news in Burundi following the news that the country’s key midfielder Papy Faty has passed away while playing for eSwatini outfit Malanti Chiefs in Swaziland.

    Faty Papy collapsed on the field after just 15 minutes before being rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

    It has been reported the former Rwanda Side APR midfielder had a history of heart complications prior to this and was advised by doctors in January to stop playing due to his heart condition but rejected advice, and a heart operation.

    Papy will be remembered by Burundians for helping the Intamba mu Rugamba to qualify for AFCON 2019 – their very first AFCON!
