Moses Golola Beats Adul Kikenwa in a Much Anticipated Kick Boxing Fight

0

As it happened way back in their first amateur meeting, it was as so Yesterday night when kick boxing genius Moses Golola knocked out sport struggling Abdul Kikenwa.

This fight was only known by a few till last week when Golola’s competence in words saw him baptizing his foe names like baby ndunya, overfed baby, big pig e.t.c that prompted for a quick fight live on Television, only to be interrupted by the TV presenter.

This was after Kikenwa said that the fight is his to win since he was going to face a comedian, not a kickboxer.

However, their battle was renewed yesterday, when the two met again in ring at Freedom City, Namasuba along Entebbe Road.

Moses Golola continued to rule among local based kick boxers as none has even ever managed to overcome him since he started doing it professional.

The fans enjoyed Golola’s series of punches, each landing safely on the sweaty Kikenwa head, forcing him to hide behind the referee to save a life, and this is where Golola was declared winner of the night.

The two had earlier met many years back in an amateur boxing fight, and still the self-made celebrity, entertainer, champion kick boxer, actor, philanthropist, businessman and investor, Golola, won.

He now remains the Kickboxing Champion of East and Central Africa having emerged winner in a controversial match against Hungarian Andras Nagy on 9 December 2011.

Other kick boxing fights of the night

Ssegonza James fought with Herman Zziwa in the opener of the night, fighting in K1 style. Herman Zziwa won.

Lawrence Mukiibi took on Mohammad Lubwama still in K1 Style while Richard Damulira a.k.a Ring doctor knocked out Masereka.

What To Pack For A Uganda Safari

0

Uganda safaris are best enjoyable especially when you have packed appropriately based on your safari needs. Some items are a must to have for instance your passport, airline ticket, immunization cards, and some money (cash) to use. Whereas some of these items may seem obvious to some people, to others it is vital to keep reminding them whether you are a first-time traveler or repeat visitor anything can go wrong and you forget what exactly is expected of you while on safari. Packing for mountain gorilla trekking is different from packing lists for picnic tours. Just in case you are planning your safari in Uganda’s most magnificent protected areas, and you are confused about which clothing to bring or what should you come along on your safari. Besides considering the destination’s culture, the whole idea lies in ensuring comfort.

Below is a list of what you should pack for safari in Uganda

Clothing

This is a neutral item which means that you should avoid bright colored or white clothing that distracts wildlife species in the destination. Usually, it is advisable to dress according to the environment, especially green color is the best. You will need a pair of shorts, long-sleeved shirts, and sleeved T-shirts to protect you from thorns, vines, insects, and falling branches; trousers which favorable for nature walks, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, hikes as they safeguard you from dirt and scratches or shorts to be put while at the lodge, sweater for cold weather in Bwindi and Mgahinga National Park, pants, socks, skirt for women, rain jackets whether dry or wet season expect rains in Kibale National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon a rain jacket is best for to get protected from the rain and many more.

Accessories

Among the accessories to pack include the backpack for you to pack your small items and documents should be lightweight for hikes, gorilla trekking, nature walks, chimpanzee trekking, and game drives; comfortable hiking boots for gorilla trekking or walking shoes, glasses for safari as well as a sun hat and sunglasses to safeguard your head and eyes from the sun rise.

Equipment

Anything can happen and your camera will run out of power the best thing for you to do is to have extra batteries for the camera as a replacement for the one that dies off, binoculars for bird watching, chargers for your cell phone, camera, and laptop, headphones for watching in-flight movies, iPod reusable water bottle, small compass, and video. Do not leave a camera behind as photo taking as is mostly everyone’s interest on safari.

Health and beauty items

While planning your safari, bear in mind that you are the only one who knows yourself better. Before traveling, make sure that you consult your doctor who will advise you based on the new environment that you intend to visit. Among other items to pack include antibacterial wipes, body lotion, comb, and brush, contact lens solution if they are necessary, deodorant, face cleanser, and insect repellent given that fact you might be in the forest or even savanna areas you may not avoid mosquitoes, tsetse flies and other biting insects in the bush and that is why insect repellents are very important. For mosquitoes, RID is the best for you, get malaria tablets as prescribed by your doctor or copy the prescription as per your doctor and use it for accessing it in Uganda when a shortage occurs. You will also need citronella soap which equally works like insect repellent. It is an anti-bacterial soap. Personal hygiene items, toothbrush, toothpaste as well a first aid kit including gas relief tablets antacids, rehydration sachets, cold medicine, anti-diarrhea medicine, antihistamines for allergies, mild laxatives, non-aspirin pain relievers, and many others.

Miscellaneous

You will need to have your credit cards and make sure that your bank knows that you will be traveling with your card abroad, bird and animal guidebooks, contact information, driver’s lice sense, soap, health insurance card, and cross-check if your health care provider has overseas partners, healthy snacks, local guidebooks, money belt to keep your cash-the money belt should be cotton made and when worn shouldn’t make you sweat; maps, photocopies of your passport, travel journal, vaccination certificate.

Duffel bag

While planning your safari, consider appropriate suitcase with wheels to help you accommodate all that you require to use. It also offers the best mobility on safari and it can be kept and makes packing simpler and hence no need for you to keeping the luggage in the vehicle.

In conclusion, if you are planning a guided or self-drive safari in Uganda, make sure that you prepare adequately. The above items, we believe, will guide you while you pack based on your desired safari activities.

Barbie Jay Denies Sex Reports – The Car was too Hot, So I Had Removed the Shirt

0

During the weekend, Singer Julius Buyinza popularly known as Barbie Jay was nabbed pants down while having sex in a car with a mysterious babe on Mengo Road. Photos of him while he was Shirtless and for the Woman while the dress was way up the thighs made rounds on social media and we all confirmed he was really playing the Night version of the Game of Thrones.

However, despite all that evidence, Barbie Jay has finally spoken out on the cheating scandal, suppressing all the reports that appeared in the media that he was eating the ‘Sumbusa‘, as he termed it before in one of his popular songs featuring Eddy Kenzo.

Speaking from his Makidye studio, Barbie Jay accepted the fact that he was found shirtless and with a girl in a car, but was doing nothing.

‘I was just cooling off after along dance rehearsal,’. He said

Here is Barbie Jay’s words.

It’s true I was with a girl in the car. We were from practicing and on our way back home, we parked by the roadside to buy some food. Because of the hectic day, I was feeling too much heat and decided to remove my shirt because I was in my car,..

Girls these days wear revealing clothes showing their thighs. There is no reason that we were cheating, I have a family to protect and explain to. I was wearing my trouser and I don’t think I can do anything when I am wearing my trouser. That’s evidence enough,”

Currently, we have learnt that the Singer who has since refused to go back home is making a song out of his situation.

When Do You Give to Kampala Beggars? A Muzungu Perspective

0
Street Poor

This is one of the biggest questions and challenges for people traveling to the developing world and, perhaps even moreso, for those living as western expats in countries with extensive poverty because we confront it on a daily basis.

The hard part is that most of these people really are poor and what amounts to pocket change to us could mean the only meal of the day to them. We want to help, feel guilty if we don’t, and realize we are perpetuating a bad situation if we do. On a more basic level, nobody likes to say “no” to someone in need.

Begging is Different Here

I find it particularly complicated here in Uganda. My wife and I lived in India back in 1993 – 1994, before the big dot-com boom and the rise of the middle class. The poverty was much more extreme than it is here in Uganda, but there was a stronger stigma against begging. It was clear who was going to ask you for money, and it was usually people on the street with horrible deformities or who were clearly on the edge of survival. It was a last resort or, for the children, they may have been forced into a “begging gang.”

That same stigma doesn’t exist here. I regularly get asked for money by people with jobs (albeit low-paid ones), or people who just happen to be walking by and see a mzungu – a human money-dispenser.

I think there are two main reasons that it is more acceptable to ask for money here. One results from a positive social structure, one stems from the good-intentions but bad-execution of the aid industry.

On the positive side, families are set up to help each other here. If you need school fees or money for medicine, you can ask any relative, no matter how distant, for that money. If they have it, they are obligated to give it to you. This is an important safety net that also makes it very difficult for anybody to save enough money to start a business or buy a house. Regardless, it is ok and expected to ask for money when you need it.

A less positive reason is the pervasiveness of hand-out aid. People here are used to getting free stuff from foreigners. I think this has created the expectation that you should get something from any mzungu you come across.

Giving to a beggar does not solve the systemic problem that caused that person to be begging in the first place. At the same time, they really might be in dire straights and need to buy some food. Only you can decide what is right for you at any given moment.

My 5 Rules for Giving to Beggars

Over time I have developed a number of unbreakable rules that I break on a regular basis:

  1. I don’t give money to kids who are begging. I don’t want families to think it is better to send their kids out to beg than to send them to school. I also don’t want to support “begging gangs” where kids are forced to beg and then bring their earnings back to a leader.
  2. I don’t give money to people with jobs. I heavily tip people who do a service for me, like the security guards where I park my car, but even someone who is making very little is better off than someone who isn’t making anything at all.
  3. Mothers with babies. Ok, if I am going to give money to someone begging on the street, it will probably be a mother with a baby, even if she just borrowed the baby to improve her chances. I am the sucker that makes that trick work.
  4. I will give money to adults with serious injuries that make it hard for them to work. NOT kids with injuries – I don’t want parents to decide their kids will bring in more money if they have injuries and thus incentivise them to harm their children.
  5. I don’t give money in front of my home or hotels where I am staying. Once you are seen as someone who will give money, it will be expected from you every time you walk through your door.

I Break My Own Rules

I broke number 5 just this morning. A man was waiting for me at my gate after I dropped my son off at school. He had a note saying that his daughter just died and he needed money to transport the body to his village. I gave him 10,000 shillings.

I am about 95% certain that this same guy came up to me about a year ago with the same note and the same story. I even said “are you sure you didn’t already try this last year?” He swore he hadn’t. I don’t believe him.

So why did I give him the money? I don’t know. Rules are meant to be broken. I hate saying no. He looked sad. And maybe, just maybe, he was telling the truth and it was some other guy who came to me last year to get money to transport his daughter to the village. Lots of people die here.

It’s not easy. It’s never easy. If it was easy to say no, it would be the death of compassion.

I think one of the best solutions might be to count the number of people who ask you for money each day/month/trip, figure out how much you would be likely to give each one, and donate that amount to an organization that is doing good work to get people off the streets and into jobs. Or hire the person to carry your bags to your car.

It’s not fair that some of us have so much more than so many others. We don’t need to level the playing field – we need to switch sports.

  • What are your thoughts around giving money to beggars?
  • How do you decide when to do it and when not to?

Children Should Be Looked After With Proper Care

0

Shadia Katono, a Primary Four pupil in Mirembe Primary School in Kampala was severely beaten by her father, William Katwalo over stealing his sh5000. (File photo)

Barely a week today, was the mutilated body of an innocent child, Ramathan Muhammad, a son to Aisha Suleiman of Kamyokya found decomposing near the old bridge on River Nile with signs of sacrifice. The sad story is that the little boy had followed fellow children from home to school, and when he was sent back to home, only to meet his tragedy, never was he seen again by parents.

While efforts are made to sensitize the public about the rampant human sacrifice, parents and guardians ought to take extra care and be keen with a wider eye open on their children, come to beginning of holidays soon.

In this unpredictable situation, a parent may feel relieved of the tension and pressure when a term closes and children come back home safely before any fire guts dormitories of their school, as it has always been reported. We pray that no more accident happens to our young ones before they come back home.

Not only with standing the above, remember, drug addicts who rape and defile innocent young ones, motorists who drive recklessly or sometimes under influence, those in homes that are bellow level, will among others be prone to floods now that it is currently a rainy season everywhere.

It is so sad that only a few culprits of child sacrifice have been apprehended and brought to book.

Unless some justice is not only done, but as well be seen to be done, unjustifiable justice in form of mob justice will continue on the increase.

IGP Kayihura and Security Minister Tumukunde Sacked

0

Hot on Ugandan Buzz news desk is the firing of the Generals, Kale Kayihura from being the Inspector General of Police and Henry Tumukunde from the security minister of the country.

And now, In exercise of the powers vested in the President by the Constitution, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Gen Elly Tumwine as the new security minister and Mr. Okoth Ochola as the Inspector-General of Police who will be deputised by Brig Sabiiti Muzeei.

This has been confirmed by the tweet from the President’s official twitter handle, saying how he was appointing General Elly Tumwine as Security Minister and Okoth Ochola as Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Henry Tumukunde

In exercise of powers granted to me by the Constitution, I have appointed Gen Elly Tumwine as the Security Minister. I have also appointed Mr Okoth Ochola as the Inspector-General of Police. He will be deputised by Brig Sabiiti Muzeei
— Yoweri K Museveni (@KagutaMuseveni) March 4, 2018.’ it reads.

About the New Commanders

General Elly Tumwine

He is one of the highets ranking officers in the country. He fought with President Museveni during the Liberation struggle that brought the ruling National Resistance Movement into power and he was the commander of the National Resistance Army between 1984 and 1987.
He is also one of the representatives of the army in the national parliament.

Mr. Okoth Ochola

okoth ocholaMartin Okoth Ochola was appointed to the position of Deputy IGP in 2011. According to close sources, Ochola has a reputation of being a disciplinarian within the police force. On the other hand, Brigadier Sabiiti Muzeei, has been serving as the commander of the military police in the country.

Brig Sabiit

Reason for the Reshuffle

At the time the two were fired, they were perceived to be at loggerheads as the Internal Security Organisation investigated and arrested several senior police officers believed to be working with criminals.

Some sources claim that the reshuffles follow a spate of murders and kidnappings that have rocked the East African nation while others claim that Gen Kayihura has been sacked after allegations of his closeness to the Rwandan government and possible attempts to overthrow the Museveni government.

About Kale Kayihura

Kale kalekyezi Kayihura has served the Uganda Police Force since 2005 when he replaced General Edward Katumba Wamala as the IGP. Since then, he has so far been described by his critics as the man who made the national police force partisan, as he oversaw the chaotic 2006, 2011 and 2016 general elections.

Kayihura had withered several storms as activists called for his resignation and even prosecution for human rights abuses committed by the police force.

However, his credentials were however severely damaged in March last year, when the president publicly rebuked him and asked him to ‘clean the police force’ that Museveni said had been infiltrated by criminals following the brutal murder of Assistant IGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Mourners Rap Government Over Unresolved Murders as Magara is Eulogised

0
Susan Magara

It was a sombre mood at Our lady of Africa Catholic church in Mbuya during the requiem mass for the late Suzan Magara who was killed after several days of kidnap.

The silence in church from the congregation could speak volumes about their feelings about the death.

Magara,28,an administrator for the family business and a cashier at Bwendero dairy farm in Hoima district was kidnapped on February 7 by unknown assailants. She was recovered dead and body dumped 100 metres from the Kampala- Entebbe Express highway at Kitiko which is between Kigo and Kajjansi in Wakiso district on Tuesday.

In her message read by her husband, Cindy Magara, the elder sister to the deceased decried the ever increasing spate of murders that she said government has failed to solve.

“Kidnaps and murders have become a daily song. There are so many unresolved murders but for how long will this continue,”Cindy Magara, who is in Australia wondered in her message during the requiem mass .
“Why should we live suspiciously in our own country.”

Mourners decried the state of affairs in the country especially in regards to loopholes in the security system which they said is a great worry to every one.

“It sounds like a movie. These are stories we used to watch in James bond movies when evil people kidnap and kill others. It sounds so strange,”Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago told journalists.

The security system has a lot of question marks but the earlier they tighten the loose ends the better.”

Last year over 20 women were raped, killed and sticks pushed into their private parts in what looked as a similar fashion in Nansana and Entebbe areas of Wakiso district.

Police arrested a number of people before being charged over various offences related to the murders.
On Wednesday, mourners also rapped government over the fist fights among the various security agencies that are exposing the country.

The mourners heard that the kidnappers turned killers called Magara’s relatives a number of times but this didn’t go well with the congregation who lashed out at the Uganda Communications Commission for negligence.

“How can UCC and NIRA explain this after the SIMcard registration exercise?None of us is safe,”Lukwago said.

Fr.John Munghereza, the parish priest for Mbuya decried such inhumane acts that he said depict the society we live in now.

“We are living in a fragile generation that only dreams of a soft life but doesn’t want to work.We must unite against this evil that is going to destroy our country,”Fr.Mughereza told mourners.

Friends and relatives described the deceased as a selfless person whose flawless smile could move mountains.

Patience Aloyo, a close friend to the deceased described her as a candle whose light shone so bright among her colleagues and friends.

“She was a bright candle in our lives. She had a big heart ,generous and above all a joyful giver.”
