Kasirye’s Goal Not Enough as Zesco Lose to Lusaka Dynamos

Ugandan striker Davis Kasirye continued to impress at his new club Zesco United with yet another great display.

Playing his third game for Zesco since making the debut ten days ago, Kasirye finally opened his scoring account at the Zelacticos but this was not enough as they went ahead to lose to Lusaka Dynamos.

In a thrilling clash played at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Thursday, Kasirye gave Zesco the lead but a resuscitated performance from the visitors saw them stage a comeback to win 2-1.

Joseph Ochaya did not feature for Lusaka Dynamos being ruled out with an injury. Herman Wasswa, another Ugandan at Lusaka was not part of the team.

The opening 45 minutes saw either side play a cautious game and the two teams went for the mandatory break with a barren score.

However, the second half produced more action as the two teams stepped up the bid to get into the lead.

It was Davis Kasirye who broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute to put Zesco United in the lead.

The lanky forward was in the right position to tap home Jesse Were’s cross, sending the home fans into wild cheers.

However, the visitors staged a great comeback in the final 10 minutes including a stoppage time winner.

Eric Kabulo levelled matters for Lusaka Dynamos in the 81st minute before substitute Fwayo Tembo scored a late winner in the second minute of added time.

Despite the loss, Zesco remained top of the table on 39 points while Lusaka Dynamos moved to 4th place on 36 points, just two behind the league leaders.
