Playing for the National senior team is one thing but scoring on your first time of asking is another – the latter is considered by many as one of the top achievements in one’s football career.
Milton Kariisa scored an 11th minute as Cranes picked a point in Congo, playing in a World Cup world cup qualification dead rubber.
The Silky Vipers winger picked an assist from Muzamir Mutyaba before crossing the ball that luckily went into the net to cancel out Marvin Baudry’s opener a minute earlier.
“It’s a good feeling for me to score on my first game in the senior team,” said Milton Kariisa after the encounter against Congo.
“Marking a debut match with a goal is not an easy thing because you are ever playing on pressure so I must thank God because I was somehow comfortable.”
Having made his name in Jinja-based side in UL FC, Kariisa joined Vipers SC and the player has a hope of playing professional Football in Europe:
“In the next two years, I think I will be playing professional football outside Uganda. Unlike many who fancy the English Premier League, I believe that I’m ok if I can start anywhere in Europe, be it a lower league – lord I pray.”
Kariisa’s goal was the 3rd Uganda managed to net in the 2018 CAF World Cup qualification group E to finish the campaign with 9 points, 4 behind leaders Egypt.
