Court Sets Hearing Date for Kabafunzaki Case

The Anti-corruption Court Chief Magistrate Agnes Alum has set the 28th June to commence hearing of the case in which Rukiga County MP and Minister in charge of labour Hon Herbert Kabafunzaki and 2 others are accused of soliciting a bribe from Muhamad Hamad of the Aya Group; to clear his name on allegations of sexual harassment against one of his clients.

State Prosecutor Maxim Erizoba told court today that investigations in the matter have been finalized.

In response, the defence counsels led by McDusman Kabega asked court to order the prosecution to disclose to them all evidence they intend to rely on in this case, including the video footage from CCTV cameras at Serena Hotel where the accused persons were arrested; which the magistrate ordered.

Being that all three accused persons, Kabafunzaki, his aide Brain Mugabo and Bruce Lubowa were present in court; their bail was extended to 28th June.

Kabafunzaki is charged with corruption, Mugabo with corruption and conspiracy to commit a felony while Bruce Lubowa is charged with conspiracy to commit felony.
