Maj Gen Musanyufu Named UPDF Joint Chief of Staff
President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Major Gen Joseph Musanyufu as the new UPDF Joint Chief of Staff.
“We have just received a radio message to that effect,” a reputable source in UPDF told ChimpReports today.
Contacted, army spokesperson Lt Col Party Ankunda confirmed the news.
“It’s true,” said Ankunda, promising more details tomorrow Thursday.
Musanyufu, whose rank in the army has been elevated to Major General from Brigadier, has been serving as the Chief Personnel and Administration of the UPDF.
In his Tuesday night military reshuffle, Museveni left the sensitive position vacant.
However, in a radio message released on Wednesday, Museveni said Musanyufu would run the docket.
He replaces Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi who was elevated to Deputy Chief of Defence Forces.
Musanyufu served as deputy head of the departed former military intelligence chief Col Noble Mayombo.
He later served as Chief Controller of Finance.
Musanyufu joined the army in 1985 alongside Maj Gen James Mugira, Shaban Bantariza and current Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi.
He at one time served as an ADC of former army chief, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu.
Musanyufu is an old boy of Kitabi Seminary in Bushenyi, Western Uganda.
