Vincent Acidri, an 18-year-old, who sustained injuries a fracas in Arua town on Sunday has passed on. Acidri, a resident of Osu village in Arua municipality died after an operation in Arua hospital.

Medics say that Acidri’s liver was ruptured after he was hit by a live bullet at Anyafio village where angry youths were demonstrating shortly after the arrival of the body of the late Ibrahim Abiriga and his brother Saidi Kongo Buga.

Police was forced to fire tear gas and live bullets at incensed mourners who snatched both bodies from A-Plus funeral services and destroyed several property in what was later explained by some as a way of mourning for the dead in West Nile.

Dr Alex Adaku, the acting hospital director said Acidri died on Monday evening adding that doctors put in a lot of effort to save his life in vain. According to the director, three other victims namely Obiru Betty, Asiku Tualib and Amati Gideon are still being attended to and need immediate medical attention.

The mother of the deceased Margaret Kubeba says her late son has been the only boy fending for the home by selling ice cream.
