Police has mounted a search for an ardent critic of the first family and current government who doubles as a gay activist. Moses Kigozi whose whereabouts are currently not known is being wanted for after he continuously published contradictory stories on his blog attacking the current government and the first family. On the charge sheet, he wilfully and repeatedly using a computer, with no purpose of legitimate communication, disturbing the right of privacy of H.E. [His Excellency] Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his family by posting statements as regards his governance and wealth on social media, to twitter, Facebook.
He openly attacks and mocks the Ugandan political elite and calls for revolution, and the overthrow of Museveni, a former rebel leader and military strongman who has been Uganda’s commander in chief for 30 years, and who wants to extended his mandate in February 2016. On releasing that he was being hunted, he has halted the blog posts and his whereabouts remain unknown. This comes at a time when his continued attack on the first family could not be tolerated anymore.
The crackdown of online dissidents comes off the back of new legislation restricting freedom of expression and assembly. The Non-governmental Organisations bill, allows the government to shut down organisations that engage in acts “prejudicial to the interests of Uganda and the dignity of the people of Uganda”. The Public Order Management Act, passed in 2013, requires that Ugandans who gather in groups of more than three to discuss politics seek permission from the government. However, the Ugandan civil society experts, social media activism, is seen as a refuge from the repressive realities of the Ugandan political sphere.
Therefore the Police has resumed the hunt for this villainous gay conscript who is also believed to be a well-placed member of the rainbow support network an organization of gays. This comes after court issued a fresh warrant of arrest for Moses Kigozi following fresh complaints filed against him. Police officers who are investigating the matter told our reporter that Kigozi has a network of people operating in both Nairobi and Germany whom he uses to recruit unsuspecting minors into bumshafting and gay couple adoption.
Kigozi’s woes began way back in 2010 when he was nabbed operating a fake NGO “Save our Orphan in Ibukalu village, Namutumba district. It was later discovered that the organization was recruiting sons of the soil into the ill practice under the guise of assisting them with fees related problems
When he realized that police had mounted a search for him, he sneaked out of the country and his whereabouts are currently not known.
