Kampala based Ford Super Motor Dealers on Friday launched an outreach and motor service center in Mbarara town.
The center, opened on GAZ Petrol station on the Mbarara – Masaka Road is the first of its kind in the western municipality.
Ford’s country sales manager Simon Peter Mugerwa said at the launch that the station is aimed at preventing customers from making long journeys to get services for their vehicles at the main offices in Nakawa, Kampala.
Ford Motor Company is a global automotive and mobility company based in Dearborn, Michigan dealing in designs, manufacturing, marketing and servicing of ford cars, electrified vehicles and Lincoln luxury vehicles.
The launch also included road testing of some of their latest brands on Mbarara streets and a drivers’ sensitization at Boma Grounds.
Drivers and business people were given a chance to learn about the features that FORD offers including safety departure angles, brake distance gravel and anti-lock braking system.
The company in conjunction with Cooper Motor Corporation (U) Ltd also gave out driving skills for life (DSFL) under the theme “safety is a key” to more than 100 drivers, businessmen, civil servants and local distributers in Mbarara.
Mugerwa revealed that the company intends to open up more such service centers annually in other parts of the country.
Last year, one was set up in Mukono town and next year, he says, they are headed for Fort Portal.
