Onduparaka fined over crowd violence

Onduparaka has been fined sh1m over crowd violence during their game with Vipers two weeks ago at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

The match ended 4-1 in favour of Vipers.

In a statement released by Uganda Premier League (UPL) CEO Benard Bainamani, Onduparaka fans caused a lot of destruction during and after the game.

“Reference is made to the Referee’s report for the above mentioned match that was played on Tuesday 9th May 2017 at St Mary’s Stadium-Kitende and witnesses from persons of authority. The reports indicate that Onduparaka FC Fans threw objects at the first Assistant Referee and that at half time Onduparaka FC fans attempted to push down the internal perimeter fence of the stadium but were stopped by police. It’s also reported that after the match, Onduparaka Fans beat up a Vipers SC fan severely injuring him. It is absurd that despite previous fines, the club has failed to prevail over its fans.
