SBI donates to female cancer patients, needy children

Female cancer patients and needy children in Kawempe Division have received domestic items worth millions of shillings.


The items which included 40 bunk beds, 32 mattresses, 32 pairs of bed sheets, 32 blankets and 16 mosquito nets were donated by SBI International Holdings.

Speaking at the colourful event held at Patient Relief Mission (PRM) home in Kawempe, Dotan Hameiri, the SBI administration manager said the donation are part of the annual ‘Good Deeds Day’ celebration that is marked by over 60 countries globally.

“As SBI, we believe that if all people think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the whole world” Hameiri said.


He revealed that during March of every year, SBI staff worldwide chose to volunteer and help those in need to improve their lives.

PRM is a non-profit organization whose goal is to support the wellbeing of female cancer patients.

Over 20 patients are currently at the home, where they receive accommodation, transport to and from hospital.

PRM director Sheila Munyanziza commended SBI for the donation which she said would be a big boost in their efforts to look after the over 20 female cancer victims.


God’s Mercy Children’s home in Mpererwe was among the homes that benefited on the day.

Hillary Basereka, God’s Mercy director, said its home to 17 abandoned children was among the beneficiaries of the donation.
